What is a saints fan? ( h-S)

Post: # 1582014Post saintbrat »

not exactly an extensive study I would suggest
article

NOBODY knows the meaning of ‘drought’ like a St Kilda fan, but that doesn’t stop them from splurging on merchandise at the start of each season.

Five years since they came just so damn close to winning a flag in the drawn Grand Final of 2010, the Saints keep marching on, and many wonder how.

Using a mix of research and stereotyping, we chart the brain of a typical Saints supporter.
Inside the mind of a St Kilda supporter

Image
What research tells us:

Saints fans mostly live in Bentleigh, McKinnon and Ormond.

They like to spend big on their club, shopping at the AFL store and other outlets for official merchandise.

They vote Liberal, shop at David Jones and drive either a Mitsubishi or a Subaru.

They keep an eye on the business news and like fancy art galleries and museums.

What stereotypes tell us:

Much like a Tigers fan, St Kilda supporters know the meaning of drought.

The main difference between the two is that Saints fans seemed to have accepted they’re backing a dud and have learned to love the game for the game.

And lycra for lycra.

To their credit, not even the tantilisingly close draw of 2010 could smash their spirits, well, not entirely, anyway.

They were back the following year.

But deep in the Saints’ subconscious are a few other bubbling issues, such as resentment for having to stand up for Stephen Milne all the time, having to watch training in Frankston and trying to believe the Tony Lockett belonged at St Kilda and not Sydney.

If I were Plugger, mind you, I would have moved as well.

Oops, I think I have just stereotyped the chattering class!

3204 obviously is our dominant postcode. Go ask plugger. He's the mayor their.

Does our club make an extra effort to attend to primary schools in that postcode?

A real Saints fan is someone who joins Saintsational, checks on the forum at least 3 times a day and can post at least twice a day and can keep that up for at least a couple of years before they get sick of the place and decide to look for another Saints forum where they think they will be more appreciated, unless they get banned from that place and come back here.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

There is a little bit of that in me but I drive a Mazda, live in Caulfield North and have never voted Liberal so it's a f%$#ing outrage. I only shop at DJs because they are at Malvern Central up the road and I'm a lazy shopper.

I have a Porsche. I guess that doesn't make me a typical supporter, although I have occasionally shopped at DJ's but mainly for perfume.

What is a Herald Sun journo?

Drunk
Stupid
Not very good at writing
Generally not adept with English language
Happy in their goldfish bowl
Leaves thinking to the "chattering classes"
Unprofessional
Stupid
Slave to Rupert Murdoch and Eddie MacGuire
Lazy
Told by their editor to troll for clicks rather than inform readers, as the internet can now do that much more effectively
Serves a liberal voting conservative ignorant judgemental readership using blanket coverage, dramatic graphics and big typeface to mask the poor quality of content
Bogans and Morons
Supports the status quo
Pretends to side with the common man, all the while fleecing and patronising them and ensuring they stay in their place and their paymasters have total freedom and control of the country
Pretty stupid actually

See how easy that was!
