Re: Nathan Freeman
My predictions:
Freeman-Saints
Treloar - Magpies
Aish - Hawks
Lions to get the Hawks first pick and maybe a player as well (Jed Anderson?).
The Lions can use their first pick on a player (Scache) and then also get Keays and Hipwood via the Academy system and another player in the 20s on top. So essentially 4 x top 25 picks.

Re: Nathan Freeman
Looking at the 2013 draft - Tom Boyd aside - could be the best draft ever.
Just swab McCarthy (14) with Boyd (1) and you pretty much get there.

Fair dinkum, absolute flog of a club collingwood. Having there tanty over him leaving , yet welcoming treloar who has walked on the Giants with open arms.

+1. Not even a hint of self awareness of their hypocrisy. Absolute flogs. Whinge about Freeman (who hasnt played a single game) and say nothing of the fact they poach Treloar, who is a proven star, from another club. I mean an argument could be made that Freeman was injured due to poor management by the club.jonesy wrote:Fair dinkum, absolute flog of a club collingwood. In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Nathan Freeman
Is there any substance to the reports that Collingwood mishandled his injury and we will do a better job at it? It's hard to believe given the resources the Pies have at their disposal.

Bill Davoren (who the Filth poached from us) fronted the Filth members at the end of 2014 to explain the spate of soft tissue injuries, etc. Word from Freeman's camp was that he told them this year that his hammy didn't feel right but he was pushed until it gave way again.
There's your reason why he wants out

Yes as distinct from the article in the HS under John Ralph byline where he actually parrots Collingwood's bargaining position.prwilkinson wrote:http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/s ... jufqu.htmlfugazi wrote:Based on what?prwilkinson wrote:Looks like pick 24 or 26 is what the 'pies will get for him.

Almost seems like Collingwood are negotiating through their newspaper - our second round pick (about 24-26) for Freeman.
Kind of makes a mockery (to me at least) about their public protestations on the worth of Luke Ball who after all, was a DP #2 who played over 100 gaes for us and captained our Club and yet they deemed him not worth anything more than DP #30
Freeman, a DP #10 whose played 0 games In 2 years is deemed by them as being worth a pick well above Ball?
I suppose it all depends if you are a 'buyer' or a 'seller'.
I'm looking forward to Connors tirades against Collingwood when they don't 'come to the party' over Freeman.

Re: Nathan Freeman
Look I'm just concerned that he has had virtually no competitive games for 2 years when other players his age have been honing their skills and improving as players. Offering him a 3 year contract and considerable money is a huge act of faith. I'm sure they have done their homework etc. but would be very disappointed if it ends in tears (or tears) in a couple of years time. A 2nd round pick in a draft that would appear to be weak after the first round would be the best I would give.

Re: Nathan Freeman
Spotted this by Pies 2016 on Nick's Bulletin Board.
As I have said on other threads, I know the family well and have lived around the corner from them for years and watched all the Freeman kids play footy growing up with my son at Dingley ( Nathan is the middle of three brothers )
I deliberately haven't posted because I was hoping it would be sorted by now but it appears to be getting worse rather than improving.
Virtually all the family are Saints supporters but they are far from fanatical. Nathan still lives in Dingley, so there is the added appeal of the Saints training facilities being closer than other clubs. The family wasn't happy with the outcome of his training program in his first year and they were told that the club got it wrong with managing his work load. Im guessing that wouldn't improve their mood around contract time either.
Knowing the family, my educated opinion is that they are so desperate for him to play senior football, they would be influenced by a club where they believe his opportunities would be easier to come by than the Pies in 2016 ( partic if Treloar gets there )
Throw in more money and the security of a longer contract at the Saints ( if true ) and add in all of the above. What would you do ??
Its a no brainer, really.

Re: Nathan Freeman
In fairness, the AFL has changed the rule on draft tampering since the Luke Ball thing so we shouldnt hark back to that or use it as a yardstick or view this as a chance for 'revenge'. Lets just get it done. Realistically he hasnt played a single game in two years. So hes probably worth about a pick 30. Unfortunately we dont have a pick 30. 24 seems a touch high. So maybe if we give up that pick they should throw us their pick in the 50s to square it up.

Nathan Freeman
Well St.Kilda would be pretty nieve to give up a 5th. pick in the Nat. Draft to the entitlement club in black 'n white. They just look greedy in asking as they will in all probability conduct a successfull raiding party on the northern clubs pre-draft. If Freeman does become a Sainter hope our medical dept. give Nathan every chance of putting his injuries behind him. I had a look back @ Emma Quayles' review of Nathan Freeman in the Ages' Real Footy Top 25 (Nov 17, 2013)pre-draft. "There's not a lot of explosive speed in this draft but Freeman has it. He's strong, keeps his feet, plays like he loves it & is always looking to get involved.should be drafted somewhere from Picks 9-13".Zinger wrote:Whoooooweeee

Emma rated Nathan @ 12, pies picked him @ 10.
Hope things turn around for Nathan and we're singing his praises in the near future.
