I am on here regularly in season, post occasionally and come for insights that , as an interstate supporter, I cannot access locally. I enjoy the banter and the jokes but P66 had become more irritant than interesting. Shame.

Unfortunately I completely agree. The guy added a lot to the forum over many years and I appreciated that. But fundamentally he got too annoying. His "dog with a bone" posting style polluted threads with useless posts and created a negative environment for new people. He had disproportionate and negative influence over the tenor of the discussion here. Asking him to leave is the right call.

I think he was like that because this forum must have a setting that you can tick and any reply to one of your posts is emailed or PM'd through to you. He therefore responded to every reply. Even if this wasn't a feature he was on here a lot and probably would have continued the debates anyway - but maybe not.

Even if he was getting emailed, he didn't need to keep responding with the same bulls*** over and over again, across multiple different threads and with the memory of an elephant, bringing up silly things people had said in the past and times when they were wrong. It was just unnecessary, it's not as if anyone's mind was changed by it but he refused to let go of anything ever. I like his opinions in general, I think he questions a lot of the crap that people think by reflex. But the environment he created was unwelcoming and just unforgivable.

Well, I have to say that, being someone who likes to engage in sensible, thoughtful, and sometimes humorous discussion, this decision comes as somewhat of a relief. I had all but stopped posting in the past few months, as things were getting extremely tedious. I have never had an online confrontation with P66 or anyone else, for that matter, but much of the belligerent 'banter' seems to emanate from an handful of posters who unfortunately have come to dominate this forum. Some are still here, and I can only hope that they can in future avoid engaging in bitter exchanges, sniping, and cutting and pasting huge sections of text just to add something provocative and hostile at the end of it.

We've lost quite a few good members, and many of the good ones who remain rarely post these days. The inability of those belligerent forum members to see the destructive, decisive, and patently unwelcome nature of their comments makes me draw only negative conclusions about their character, and I would imagine that they behave in much the same way within their own families and social circles.

The criticism of BackfromUSA is reprehensible, as he has followed proper procedure, and has dedicated his time to a role that has only become necessary due to the continuing poor behaviour of a few.

Sadly, I'm not expecting an immediate return to the type of engaging, funny, and often intelligent discussion that used to be at the forefront about 5 years ago, as a lot of damage has been done.

I'll keep looking in, and make a few posts here and there, and hope that this forum returns to the civilly and good humour it once represented, which I think is a common thread amongst most St Kilda supporters.

I don't know who you used to be but I do know your from that small subsection of the site who viewed this place as their own little boys club. Seemed like that sad group at the local pub who are all on workers comp who just talk s*** to each other all day.

You would also be surprised how little a mod can do, I was never an admin.

If I had my way we would back cleared out the 4 or 5 guys who ruin the site for the majority years ago. Hell I even think I recall starting a thread about cutting plugger loose back when RL was still coach. The opinion at the time though was that until he actually does something against the rules we couldn't.

He was deactivated for breaching this rule consistently despite numerous warnings and requests to reform his posting style:

P66 seems like a good bloke but needs to learn not to reply to everything and anything. I see he has already popped up on BF so we may get some of our former posters back.

If you look back most of what plugger66 argued about was for common sense - I admit his failing was the fact he couldn't let anything past the keeper but he is hardly alone on that... Plugger66 downfall was he upset (by calling out some of the more stupider) the wrong posters people who couldn't handle being proven wrong people who would run to mods to report him for bullying (even though they would regularly post worse)...

Plugger was a realist but he is a true saints fan - over the years we have disagreed on things and had our own barneys on a few topics but he was always a fair debater provided you stuck to the topic of debate sadly the sooks of this site would take his disagreement of their point of view personally (especially if they thought stupid things like the AFL were out to get the saints or if the guy dropped to the development squad was going to win next year Brownlow). It always takes two to start a fight and most of the time the fights on here escalated because others would join in to egg plugger66 on it was like a sport to see who could debate him to the point of admiring he was wrong ( although that would never happen as plugger66 would debate til his death)
This is really sad he has been banned - I don't post much on here now because of the petty reporting to mods by the letter writing few who seem to complain enough to get their way soon this site will be just a circle jerk of letter writing tired old men with the same view and the same topics ... Very very boring

For a practical reason of all the server space that was being chewed up by him always hitting the quote button, for every argumentative post he put up.

And the constant attacks of a personal nature against forum users had long worn out any kind of resoct for his thoughts.

That's fine but if we go down that path everyone will eventually be on ban .... Most of us have been on here for years most of us have met at the footy have laughed cried and cheered together over the years it's like a family we don't all get along we argue we fight we bring up stuff from the past we judge each other and we have personalities that will clash but to ban one of us just cause the vocal few continue to complain and they instead of either a) walking away from the argument or b) attempt to argue their point better the go for option c) dob the poster in to the mods...
I know this cause I myself am on two warnings for petty things that a certain poster instead of discussing went to dobbing

It's sad but the complainers will always win out .. I've been attacked on here I've had racist comments thrown my way yet I'm a big enough boy to cop that and not run to a mod to report it - plugger66 was the same he was targeted posters attacked the poster not the post on many things plugger posted posters got personal about him using his role at his local footy club against him he copped people modifying his name to belittle him he copped people commenting on his life speculating on his occupation on his values on his drinking habits on his sexual habits ... To my knowledge he didn't run sooking to the mods for that he just argued his point... It's a sad fact those who complain run this place and use the mods as their own personal hit men for when they get called out ...

I don't understand what makes this place tick? This shows how deluded you really are. Plugger was a cancer to this site, you would not believe how many people have left this site because of him.

The general forum mob have always thought that they have some sort of ownership of this place. Yes you did make the majority of contributions (albeit in quantity rather than quality) but that doesn't mean you should have any more of a say than any other member of the site.

There have been 10 members tops who have dragged this site into the mud. The same dickheads who definite themselves by their forum activity are the ones who cry outrage when a common sense decision like this is made.
