Re: Nathan Freeman
By no means am I saying Billings should be traded and there is no doubt he is all class but the fact is since the 18's he has been injured more often than not. If 2018 comes and he hasnt played 65 - 75 games he will be traded then. He is worth the risk but he is still a risk. Freeman is another risk, Markworth and Siposs are now disappointments. Looking at our future (2018) it might be risky to build it with injured midfielders.

Re: Nathan Freeman
Siposs was pick 75 in a compromised draft so realistically he was always going to be a long shot.

Re: Nathan Freeman
So when is Freeman going to announce that he's coming?
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Nathan Freeman
In 2018 when we usurpe his new contract with the Scum and he has become a 40 game gun. Otherwise he could probably get his own deal with Sandringham

Re: Nathan Freeman
Ok what about Carlisle. Will he have to serve his 2 year suspension before he plays with us?

Re: Nathan Freeman
The payoff is so high (taking someone from them that they want to keep) that it's worth a serious dip. We don't need friends like them.

+1 Would love to see Eddie blow his top over his paying list being harvested by other teams for a change.saynta wrote:They took Ball and we got sfa for him.Rosco wrote:The payoff is so high (taking someone from them that they want to keep) that it's worth a serious dip. Of course it's got to be someone we rate, and the grand finale needs to be a successful career on the end of it. Hopefully freeman is that guy.

REASONS TO LEAVE:
-That he and his family believe that the Pies have badly managed him
-That the Pies have many quality mids, and may soon have more
ie is disgruntled and wants a fresh start elsewhere
REASONS TO COME:
-That the Saints will evidently pay double what the Pies can
-That the Saints have few players with his skilset = more likely to play at AFL level
ie we will probably pay him more than any other club, and there will be a better opportunity than at most clubs to break into our 22 because of what we lack

I dare say Freeman will probably wait until trade week, or at least until Treloar and/or Aish have had their trades confirmed.magnifisaint wrote:So when is Freeman going to announce that he's coming?

If he does come I just hope he doesn't end up like another Jesse Smith.

Re: Nathan Freeman
Forget all of the hand ringing and the belligerence. Billings is never, repeat never going to be traded to the filth.
Not under any circumstances and certainly not to sign Freeman.
The filth are in a huge quandary. They have, in all likelihood, two classy midfielders potentially in their sights, although I still reckon the jury is out on Aish.
So Freeman would be lucky to get a game. He knows that which is why he is baulking at signing the contract.
The Saints will offer him good money but more importantly game time as an outside midfielder which is what he is good at, so he would be a good fit for us.
Small disclaimer.
I am basing my op on his form in the TAC because he is yet to play an AFL game.
But his potential ( especially if he's got his hamstrings under control) is why we are chasing him and that's why we will probably get him.
Not sure what we might have to give up but it won't be a first round draft pick IMO.
I just love the way the fans of the filth are weeping and gnashing their teeth at the prospect of losing him, calling him ungrateful and disloyal etc etc.
It still gets my dander up at the way we handed Luke Ball over to them for nada. So if they are uncomfortable I am pretty happy.

Me too!!magnifisaint wrote:If he does come I just hope he doesn't end up like another Jesse Smith.
However as long as the Saints do not Pay too much TRADE-WISE, then we are in the position at present to overpay $$$-WISE as we struggle to pay the mininmum salary cap that the AFL set anyway. ie we could probably pay his salary just by moving some veterans to the veterans list (is a discount on the salary cap).
I would be hoping that the trade cost is just a third rounder, or merged into another deal as the "steak-knives.
As he is not contracted, has been injury prone and has never played an AFL game the Pies are not ina position to demand too much. If he walks then he just goes into the draft.
If he is a Jesse Smith then it will not matter as long as he does not cost us a second ronder.
The upside though is that we may gain a qulaity outside mid...one that we desperately need.
The good thing is that the Saints do not have to rush him along as we are not looking to win the GF next year. We can just ease him along placing his body first.
