I'd spit it if we traded our first round pick on the bloke.

Essendon **** us over with Lovett, we need to stand strong... we are in the better position.

He is worth a first rounder for sure. Our problem is our pick is reasonably early. I think we take the punt and take him. I know I have always said mids but a 22 real potential AA is pretty hard to pass up when the other choice is an unproven smallish mid.

Agreed, but what is this Parish guy like?

Pretty sure he is retired, and we don't need another ruck.

Can anyone blame him? Place is a circus. I know their paid professionals and all but they're also human beings. Could you imagine having to walk into that club everyday with all the crap going on. You'd feel dirty every time you put the jumper on. (More than normal anyways)

All true, still not worth our pick #5.

Second rounder plus steak knives.

AR says J.C. is a good character - suggesting he can work successfully with the disgruntled don who didn't make the dons' top 10 B&F.
Would like to keep our pick 5 or or is it 6 -8 ?

Now described by Cox as our "top priority":

love the way the media gets "top priority" from what Cox said on SEN today.

He was very guarded in his choice of words. Intimated Carlisle was someone we would be interested in considering our backline.

However also waxed about Bennell and I think we all know we are not touching him with a ten foot pole.

Carlisle may well be the "top priority" for the Saints, but it was not said during the interview.

Personally I think keeping #5 should e the top priority unless we can use it on Kelly which is a remote possibility.

im not concerned about b&f's as i reckon he put the cue in the rack and informed his manager 6 months ago, plus the backline didn't look good all year ~
Its all cloke and daggers art this point in trade talks
But i reckon we are twelve months out with a rock solid deal with EFC
last year we had Gwilt and Jones on the books, and EFC would jump on a deal with those two and a second rounder

Carlisle only said what Goddard and many others were thinking. At least he is honest and not prepared to finish his career at Essendon.

Definately put the cue in the rack later in the season with the thought of going elsewhere with a less toxic environment, not unlike BJ playing safe footy in his last season with us knowing he would be gone.

Also very ambivalent about giving up a first round pick for this guy. No question that he has some good skills, but putting the cue in the rack isn't a trait that brings great promise. Carlisle was the 24th pick in the 2009. I say give them a second round pick for him, or a 3rd round pick and a fringe player.

I am certainly willing to give hm the benefit of the doubt. I do rate him. I think its just that pick 5 looks a touch too high.
PIck 10 - and id do it in a flash.

Id say you don't want him then. Second round pick would need a Longer or Hickey or maybe a Webster. He is a KPP and at his best a very good one.

Essendon need another ruckman. Is Longer or Hickey worth trading for Carlisle?

We would need to throw in our second rounder as well but it isn't going to happen. Pretty sure they are getting Luenberger.
