So who is Brian?
I can say with confidence we have players on the trade table, does that make me in the know?

If you could only have one - Aish, Freeman or Kelly.
Who would would it be and why?

He claims to be an insider, he has a couple of others on there that seem to back him up somewhat. He also claims to be a friend of a player manager. Moorabin Ghost seems a little more closely connected. I reckon he's prob a volunteer of some type. Might gets bits from real inside staff.

Re: Trade Rumours
I actually rate Hickey. For me Hickey is not miles behind Carlisle. I think Hickey + pick 40 for Carlisle would be about right but I am guessing they will demand 23 + Hickey.Zed wrote:Hickey certainly seems popular with teammates so fits the criteria of previous posters. I still can't work out why Longer has been favoured over Hickey when Toms around the ground work ie marks kicks , is ahead of Longer who is in the Holmes category of tap ruckman and not much else. I agree that it looks like we are grooming at least one of our ruckman for market.gringo wrote:Sounds like it could be Ross and a second round pick for Carlisle. I can't see Aish at St Kilda but geez I would be stoked to get him. In a thin draft perhaps we are cashing in all our draft picks this year in favour of talent that has already been in the system.

Re: Trade Rumours
Kelly probably the pick. Freeman injury prone, Aish maybe not quite the midfielder we want. Kelly has the most packaged skills, good motor, nice mover and a big possession getter inside and outside.Con Gorozidis wrote:If you could only have one - Aish, Freeman or Kelly.

Re: Trade Rumours
I really doubt we trade out any ruck. Most teams carry around 4 true rucks. They are the last to mature so the first area we recruited. Spine next then mids.Con Gorozidis wrote:I actually rate Hickey. For me Hickey is not miles behind Carlisle. Re: Trade Rumours
Hey you might not have noticed but there is already a Trade and Draft thread posted as a sticky!!
check the top of the Fan Forum page - in the Sticky section!!
Makes sense to stick with one rather than starting up numerous others
Just my two cents
Cheers

Re: Trade Rumours
ok so trade hickey, keep longer as #1, holmes covers longer injury, pierce available at a pinch a year too early and draft a new prospect with late pick / rookie?

I've always rated Talia from Bulldogs, gets a lot of the ball for a tall defender.

He was on the money with the Watters sacking and McCartin as our first pick.SainterK wrote:So who is Brian?

Noticed but because it is a sticky it is not used much by the amount of posts it gets and a new post seems to go up for any player in consideration.

Re: Trade Rumours
Perhaps, but Richo spoke with Carlisle just before he headed off overseas, and the more recent radio interview with Richo sounded like we are definitely interested still.LTN16 wrote:

Re: Trade Rumours
Been reading the mail from Brian on BF and he has suggested that we need to get ready for a trade of a well liked player.
He is suggesting the Carlisle trade will be 2nd round pick & a player - he mentioned Ross but I don't think he meant him as the "well liked player" that's others' interpretation and that comment was made seperate from the Carlisle trade.
Hence the reason why people are throwing Hickey's name into the mix.
Brian also mentioned we were big into Aish which, if we accept the club is determined to hang onto pick 5, is where I think a "well liked player" could be involved.
It would require a straight swap, quality for quality and it won't be one of our 1st round kids.
There aren't too many names that immediate jump out but I think he is talking about Newnes.
Leadership group or not it won't be a barrier to trading him if Aish nominates us - think of McEvoy.
Looking at it dispassionately you're trading a pick 37 from 2011 for a pick 7 from 2013 who came fourth in the NAB Rising Star.
Jack is a very solid contributor but still didn't crack it for the top 10 in the B&F and plays a position we can cover. He does have leadership quality, he has a great work ethic and he has the most important thing CURRENCY.
The club will quite rightly think they are trading a solid B grader who might have the potential to be A grade for a young kid who has already shown A grade qualities albeit this year was a write off due to speculation on his future.

Trade Rumours Extra
Because we can never have enough trade and draft threads
Hopefully when the mods get around to it they can merge all 237 draft threads into one
Its been rumoured that one well liked player might need to be traded in order to land a couple of large hungry sharks
Seb Ross's name seems to be coming up a bit - maybe because of his Watson family link
Thoughts??

Re: Trade Rumours Extra
I just don't know. My initial thought is it seems like we have put in the hard yards with Seb and he is on the verge of stepping up to be AFL standard and a clearance specialist. I also get the impression the coach absolutely loves him (one of his favourites) but that is just gut feel. But as they say - you need to give up something good to get something good.... I think the trade possibilities would be Gilbert, Geary, Seb, Hickey. Thats probably all. One of those 4 youd think.Devilhead wrote:Because we can never have enough trade and draft threads

I mean maybe add Ray to that list but realistically I cant see us getting anything for him.

Re: Trade Rumours Extra
I think we can afford to lose Seb. There are others on our list that can do the inside mid role. He may get more opportunities at another club and so be it as long as we win out of the trade also. Win-win-win.
