Nathan Freeman
On Saints Footy facebook:
ST KILDA has emerged as a suitor for out-of-contract Collingwood speedster Nathan Freeman.
By Jay Clark
Herald Sun
From Collingwood website: "Another genuine clearance specialist with elite endurance and pace, Freeman remains a great unknown to the Magpie Army after his injury-riddled 2014. The ex-Sandringham Dragon played only forty minutes of the first NAB Challenge match before succumbing to a hamstring strain that denied him the opportunity to play at any level for the remainder of the year. An accomplished ball-user on the outside with an explosive change of direction, Freeman also has the ability to find his own ball with his strong build and ability to read the contest. He began the 2015 pre-season in fine style, winning the two-kilometre time trial run by the first-to-fourth year players and finishing second behind Steele Sidebottom when the whole team undertook the test only a few weeks later. One to watch in 2015."
Is this guy any good?

Re: Nathan Freeman
Two years and no games due to injuries.
Sounds like Markworth.
I guess if we get him for not much it might be worth the punt.

Very good player. Those 2 years he played at Sandy I would have seen at least 15 games in that time and I thought he was the best of the bunch which included Kelly, Salem, Amon and a few others. Get him. Worth the risk for sure.

Re: Nathan Freeman
Two years lost because of Hamstrings.
Sounds high risk but if you can get for a third rounder you are not paying much so that mitigates the risk somewhat.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Interesting plugger. How would you compare Balic to that lot?plugger66 wrote:LTN16 wrote:Now he is someone I want at the saints!!

Re: Nathan Freeman
Good move by Saints, obviously we rated him in his draft year. If he can replicate that at senior level he is exactly what we need, quick solid midfielder. Kicking not sublime but better than Steven of what I have seen. The other thing it really puts TPP pressure on Collingwood if they want to keep him, with Treloar & Aish heading their way.
I would be ecstatic if we can pinch one back on Collingwood after what they have done to us in the past!

What do you mean by 'health'?FQF wrote:There's question marks with health so it's risky. He wouldn't come cheap.
Re: Nathan Freeman
Sorry that was ambiguous. Just referring to the hamstrings. He was drafted with the injury, had them more or less ever since. Had exploratory surgery earlier this year but still, you'd think his value since drafted would seriously have decreased.Con Gorozidis wrote:What do you mean by 'health'?FQF wrote:There's question marks with health so it's risky. Re: Nathan Freeman
FQF which one is it - he won't come cheap or his value has seriously decreased. Hardly playing a game in any comp in 2 years would suggest his value would be reduced.FQF wrote:Sorry that was ambiguous. Just referring to the hamstrings. Re: Nathan Freeman
His objective value has decreased, but he won't come cheap from a Pie perspective. Hence my concerns.derby Street wrote:FQF which one is it - he won't come cheap or his value has seriously decreased. Re: Nathan Freeman
Despite not playing much both he and Scharenberg are seeking significant pay increases from Collingwood which has led to tension.
I saw him play a bit as a junior where his trademark was using his explosive speed to break from congestion around stoppages. Pretty big body at that stage too. His disposal is okay but could improve. He's a risk because of his chronic hammies but comparing him to Markworth in any way at all is misleading and does him a disservice. Provided we don't have to give up pick 5 we should take a punt on him if he wants to come.

Managed by Paul Connors. Often these stories are leaked to the media just to get an extra 10% in contract negotiations.
Probably still a long shot.

So you'd be happy if we give up our 2nd rounder pick 23ish for him?Hemi Baxter wrote:Despite not playing much both he and Scharenberg are seeking significant pay increases from Collingwood which has led to tension.

Some guy on BF who said he was Freeman's friend (or something like that) had mentioned the connection to St Kilda before the Herald Sun.Con Gorozidis wrote:Managed by Paul Connors. Often these stories are leaked to the media just to get an extra 10% in contract negotiations.

Yes but does the filth still want and need him if they manage to snare Treloar and Aish? There is strong mail to suggest they will get both and If they do, Freeman would be surplus to requirements which might explain why the Filth are dragging their heels in re signing him.
