I am not joking. "They have tickets on themselves" has never been more relevant.
They have 16 premierships, same as Carlton.
Port Adelaide Magpies (SANFL) have about 36, so they should be the "greatest".
Oh sure, but that's a STATE comp.
Funny, the Injectors won all of theirs in a state comp as well, the VFL.
And greatest in the world?
Man U, Real Madrid, Juventas, Arsenal, and a whole lot of other "football" clubs, might argue the point.
Oh, but they play "soccer".
We call it soccer, they call it football around the entire world, and if the Injectors invite the "world" into the equation, they're putting it out there with real "football".
Jus sayin
Who cares. And we play soccer in Australia. Football is aussie rules or rugby league.

North out of the running for Carlisle
Carlton baulking at the price the Saints have put on his head
Bulldogs out of the running - Beveridge doesn't want him and they cant afford it after 10% of the SC is languishing in the VFL
Saints are the front runners with all the others dropping off
Realistic is 2nd rounder and a mid like Seb Ross, or 2 second rounders
If Essendon play hardball
1) Too bad we don't get him and have an extra 700k in the kick to lure another backman whom there is speculation on
2) No other takers - we can front end a contract and pick him up for nothing in PSD
3) Forget him and Carlton pick him up in PSD
2 and 3 remote chances.
Likely scenario is like when we were paid unders for Cripps.
Remember these facts
Carlisle was a 2nd rounder
He hasn't performed consistently for two years
He is OOC
He has walked from Essendon
He may have a WADA ban hanging over him.
Eseendon can bluster by way of this moron Clark, but they got #17 for a contracted Ryder last year.
They will eventually play ball. They need the dps, and they have no bargaining power.
Our worse case scenario - we don't get Carlisle? So what?

I wouldn't be too fussed if this turned out to be true, Key position players are very hard to find, Carlisle would definitely improve our backline.mohannair wrote:I saw Jack Billings being mentioned in Carlile trade.

Billings would be missed, BUT, midfielders are easier than Key position players to find.
Interesting trade period coming up.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

ST KILDA is interested in Essendon defender Jake Carlisle, but will not give up young midfielder Jack Billings in any potential deal to secure him.
Saints coach Alan Richardson quashed speculation that Billings will be offered to the Dons, saying he nearly “choked on his Weet-Bix” when it was suggested.
“We want another two or three Jack Billings’, we don’t want to get rid of one,” Richardson told SEN on Friday night.
“We’re really happy with what we’ve got from a grunt point of view. We need Jack Billings and his twin brother and his other twin brother, that’s what we need.
“He is a required player and he is going nowhere.”
Billings, a classy 20-year-old midfielder, has played 25 games for St Kilda having been drafted with pick three in 2013.
While Richardson is adamant he will not be traded during the upcoming exchange period, he was reluctant to suggest the Saints will offer their first round pick for Carlisle.

Stupid season indeed
I dont agree with some down playing Carlisle - but if he doesnt come cheaply - surely we could grab M Brown from sandy?
would have liked C Dixon tho...
What does Brown do to help St Kilda though. 5 years for 15 games suggests he is a seconds player.
They said he had a broken leg then has only recently had a screw that was protruding remove from his shoulder meaning he's free from pain for the first time in years.

Re: Jack Billings mentioned in Carlile trade
Billings is a match-winner in the making. We've already seem what he's capable of when he booted three (or was it four) in the last quarter against the Bulldogs to get us over the line.Wayne42 wrote:I wouldn't be too fussed if this turned out to be true, Key position players are very hard to find, Carlisle would definitely improve our backline.

Carlisle would be a handy pick up but it CANNOT, under any circumstances, be at the expense of Billings. Like Richo says, we need more class in the midfield first and foremost.
Yes it's hard to find good key position players, but flags have been won with serviceable ones. No flags have been won without a good midfield.

Jack Billings appreciated big time @ St.Kilda
I suppose the J.Clarke initiative reminds most of us just how much we are excited about the progress Jack B. is making. Our young guys are doing well in their development and will only get further help from the good recruiting that has already landed us the likes of Jack Billings. Essendon will probably have to look further north to pull the wool over the eyes of the newer clubs.
Keep recruiting well Sainters.

Any club or journalist who suggests trading Billings is A grade mental and clearly has no idea.

I don't think anyone takes it it seriously. It is just BS dreamt up by some Bomber fan on the internet. Not even worth a thread on SS. We shouldnt even give these bomber flogs oxygen.Munga wrote:Any club or journalist who suggests trading Billings is A grade mental and clearly has no idea.
