Re: Jack Billings mentioned in Carlile trade
The Billing article is a joke so let's ignor it.
The way I see the saints are in the box seat for Carlile. If they can't deal with the saints he goes to the blues for nothing so for the bombers they need to trade with us. I would offer our first pick to Essendon for carlile and their pick 23. Carlile could be a champion back for us...hard to find and definitely a must in any premiership team. Back lines win grand finals.

What's it got to do with his old man?bigcarl wrote:The Herald Sun article says Billings dad, Graeme, is a well-connected Bomber supporter. Let's hope this won't be a problem.
IMO it would be a disastrous trade for us because the kid has shown what a match-winner he can be. As someone else said, that is a rare commodity.
Also we have some good key-position players coming through in Bruce, Goddard and hopefully McCartin. Plus Tom Lee and Delaney are still on the list.
We need more midfield class, pace and polish. Not less.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Dads have been known to have some influence over their kids. Apparently he's desperate to get him to Essendon.magnifisaint wrote:What's it got to do with his old man?bigcarl wrote:The Herald Sun article says Billings dad, Graeme, is a well-connected Bomber supporter. But the kid is signed to 2017 and apparently pretty happy at St Kilda so it may not be a problem.

Well based on that I expect him to stand out of footy for a year.

Re: Jack Billings mentioned in Carlile trade
Billings should be played at Sandy next year in the dev squad if he's trying to crawl out of his contract or change clubs at the end of it. Don't develop their team for them. We should rip them to shreds on Carlisle too for the dodgy weaselling and to get something back from the Lovett trade.plugger66 wrote:bigcarl wrote:Dads have been known to have some influence over their kids. Really don't think any of the support staff at St Kilda are that stupid. If anything I reckon they'll offer up Hickey. Something is up with him. No way Holmes a better ruckman than him.

Re: Jack Billings mentioned in Carlile trade
First off he is not a 'kid'. He is 20 years old and can vote and drive a car. He is a young man who appears to be quite sensible and happy playing with St Kilda. Dad better get over it. And Essendon list managers aren't going to give a hoot what 'a well-connected Bomber supporter' wants.bigcarl wrote:Dads have been known to have some influence over their kids. Re: Jack Billings mentioned in Carlile trade
Well obviously his "best mate" Jack Sinclair will have to be included in the deal also. Can't leave him behind at Seaford.
Suppose the Bombers will have to chuck in that Melksham fella to balance out the trade

Do we get a compensation pick as well for our number 3 draft pick?CURLY wrote:No thats what it would take to get Billings thats how stupid this article is.Austinnn wrote:Get stuffed. Thank God our guys have more sense than to even suggest that.CURLY wrote:Carlisle and Hepple for Billings yes.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Re: Jack Billings mentioned in Carlile trade
I would prefer Billings stays put, but we do need a big, strong marking backman who can swing into the forward line and Carlise seems that..whatever is good for the club going forward.

Re: Jack Billings mentioned in Carlile trade
For once the Saints are in the driving seat. Carlile wants to move on so Essendon have to make a deal happen.
For once the Saints can sit back and say, "No"....."No"
I don't see Carlile being the great hope for the Saints future.

Absolute mongrels at the trade table. Play hardball, if they don't crumble then forget it. No compromising. Certainly wouldn't like to see a promising young player sent there.

murdoch media is TRASH
Wouldn't be surprised that essendon may be resuming their self-elevated view of themselves - raid the less wealthy melbourne clubs aka 'the serfs' to benefit themselves'.
St.Kilda is building good stability and an exciting team. Jack Billings is an important part of that.
Personally I don't like the idea of trading with essendon mainly because they have such a special self-image that negotiations can take triple the effort with often little achieved in trading.
Quite amazing really as not to long ago they acquired BJ for nothing but it's never enough for some is it?
V. Happy with Jack Billings who is on track like the rest of St.Kilda Football Club in building something special.
We can probably do much better on the trading front focusing on the glut of highly promicing young prospects up north.

Re: Jack Billings mentioned in Carlile trade
This story is gathering steam and I wouldn't mind if the club officially went on record saying "under no circumstances will Jack Billings be traded."
And, if there is any truth to it, its membership microwaving time.

Yep its done for sure. The other deal that is also certain to be done is Steven wants out and its looks like we will be getting Hall for him plus we get there 3rd pick. Armo may want to go back to Queensland as well unfortunately. The good news is Ray has signed another deal with the club.

Exactly the club needs to get on the front foot and show some authority and show that the whip is in our hand
"Under no circumstances will we trade Billings"
"Carlile is one option to get a tall defender into the club, we could draft one in or use free agency when it's suits our age democratic "
Come out and say it today saints
