Wont happen. When was the last good player to go into the PSD?

Isn't more likely him being a DFA? Essendope would have to delist him by 31 October and then he is a DFA???

I can remember Nick Stevens, when he wasn't a stalker and a good AFL hardball get player (ok, I am dreaming) getting to Carlton because Port & Collingwood couldn't deal. But yeah, agree not many big deals are done that way. Although that preseason draft can be a useful negotiating tool.
Poster formerly known as SENsaintsational. More wisdom. More knowledge. Less name.

Which would suit Carlton, very very well.
One plus for us is that Carlisle is 24 now.
The Blues are only JUST starting their rebuild which will mainly be via the draft and kids. So if Carllisle goes to the Blues he will have several seasons of getting thrashed before they start to lift.
With a clean out of older players and possibly only Carlisle in I would expect the Blues to win another spoon or two over the next several seasons.

Main reason it does not happen is that star players do not normally want to go to the bottom club....rather than the "mechanics" not allowing. Free Agency has also greatly opened up the ability of players to swap to teams of their choosing as well.
So MAIN thing is the Saints convincing Carlisle to want to join the Saints. Hopefully we have been "into him" for ages.

Membrey !
DFA I think
No PSD but it was amicable.
Yes it was amicable..BUT it was as a Delisted Fee Agent (This allowed him to train earlier with us).

I think the main reason now is clubs and players don't want to do it.

(I emphasise realistic. Don't say Siposs and Delaney)
A between 10-20 pick
Barring that our current 2nd rounder plus a decent youngen like a Wright.
Predicated on him nominating us, otherwise give it up.
Id suggest Hawthorn will have an almight crack, they'll have pick 15-20 and could easily throw in a Suckling type player to get it don. They retire Lake and push on Suckling and suddenly they have a deal that could get it done. If he nominates us great, but I think we are less likely we everyone else circling. For arguments sake, would Ross and our second rounder be attractive to them?

They will have a sniff.
But a Suckling type will not get it done. At 27 he is too old. Dons will be rebuilding...they would want younger players, but yes Hawks have some spare.
Salary cap would bea problem as we would pay Carlisle more than the Hawks are paying Lake. Frwaley gota bigger deal that lake.

Carlisle not worth pick 5 ish....but equally is probably worth more than our second round.
So we might have to involve another club to gain a pick or player that the Dons want, or find a player than the Dons may want from us either for an outright swap or asa sweetener to our second pick.
IMO I would be more than happy to swap Longer for Carlisle.

Essendon need a ruckman, we have 4 at the moment. Would Hickey be another option. Personally I want to keep Hickey but depending on how interested we are in him there may have to be collateral damage. Alternatively a future pick next year might be involved?
