Interesting. I hope he can avoid his injury woes from the last few years.

Good news. Obviously wants to stay and the club think he is more value with us than trading away. We are better with him in the side than out of the side.

Hey we all know who Sam is. No need to put his surname in. Ok for others to be cryptic in their posts, like I spoke to someone's dad who said his lad has been speaking to the Saints.

My first thought was why sign Sam Fisher for two years. This is news. The other thread is just a bit of speculation and a little pointless in my opinion. I'm sure the Saints are talking to heaps of kids.

And why not, we'll probably need him.kosifantutti wrote:My first thought was why sign Sam Fisher for two years. This is news. The other thread is just a bit of speculation and a little pointless in my opinion. I'm sure the Saints are talking to heaps of kids.
It's a bit frustrating trying it decifer which players are being mentioned when a certain poster keeps referring to them by their Christian names. No need for hints on who this might be.
When we were young and playing footy, the coach would never refer to the players by their christian names. Always by their surnames and I was coached by the Marist brothers! That's how the team used to go onto the notice board so there was no confusion as to who was posing what position.

Good news. He's a gun and one of a limited number of potential match winners that we have.
Re: Sam (Gilbert) gets to play for 2 more years
Loving him in the midfield. Not only because it frees up a position for one of the many young back flankers we have but because he seems to crave the contested ball and has the speed to break. A good back flanker, an X factor midfielder.

Hes not a gun or a match winner. Unless you define 'gun' as being an afl top 200-300 player - in which case - yes hes a gun.bigcarl wrote:Good news. He's a gun and one of a limited number of potential match winners that we have.

Id have Gilbo next at 10th. Which is still pretty good - still makes him top 10.Id then have Webster and Geary at 10th and 11th.
Who would be your top 6?

Gilbo is a star. An A grader.
It's just he's been injured so long it's taken a while for him to be match ready, which he now is.

Played a cracker against Geelong in a display that should have gotten us four, rather than two, points.Con Gorozidis wrote: Hes not a gun or a match winner. Unless you define 'gun' as being an afl top 200-300 player - in which case - yes hes a gun.
Some don't rate him highly and you are obviously in that camp.
But I rate him and so does the club clearly.

As it stands, right now as of today, my top 5 is Steven, Armo, Roo, Gilbo and Dempster.Con Gorozidis wrote:5 years. Gilbo cannot be judged harshly due to the unfortunate circumstances around his injuries when he has proved in the last month his best is at another level to most. He has shown he has not lost his ability, slowed down due to age or has issues with reading the ball.
Having Newnes ahead of him is being very kind to Newnes. We would be falling over ourselves about what an A grader Newnes is if he had a month like Gilbo's to date.
I guess because Menzel hasn't had a top 10 B&F finish in his last 5 years he can't be considered one of Geelongs better players, even though he is probably top 5 when fully fit?..

Re: Sam (Gilbert) gets to play for 2 more years
Good to see for both himself and the team. He is looking a likely prospect for release into the midfield on a more regular basis -we need more grunt there.
Hope he practices his kicking more, which seemed to get better this year
