This is probably the weakest Sandringham team this year, most of their better players played last night.

I wonder why McCartin didn't play in the firsts?

Siposs bullet pass out of the middle to Spencer on the lead who kicks the first from on 50. Nice start from two more-or-less forgotten guys.

Simpkin takes the mark from a kick-out and his kick back inside 50 has Paddy reading it beautifully and floating across a pack for a nice mark and goal. Lewis Pierce busy early as well.

Quarter time - haphazard observations from watching the stream
Sandy up 5.3.33 to 3.0.18.
- Pierce has been busy - a little undersized against Dawson Simpson but covering the ground well
- McCartin worked hard up the ground a couple of times to get the footy and would have appreciated some more favourable entries forward.
- Spencer has looked dangerous on a few occasions in the forward 50 (as well as kicking that nice goal), and played relief ruck briefly and seemed to cover some decent ground in that time. - Siposs has had some presence, some good physical stuff and been in the middle for a few centre bounces.
- Saad kicked a really nice goal, crumbing a Paddy contest and burning his opponent.
- It's a shame Clint Jones has trouble kicking an Australian Rules football

Late in the second quarter - Simpkin's famous head clashed with Siposs and Siposs has been stretchered off as a result - was talking and moving very soon after it appears to be not too bad considering the circumstances.

Was a good win and that is about all.

White moved the best I have seen him all year until he got a lower leg injury in the last quarter
Simpkin strained a hammy as well late and with the Sipposs injury and unlikely to play next week it was a must four points given the list available for next week.
Mitch Brown was best on ground in my opinion by a long way.
Thought Markworth was serviceable
Paddy was well held after quarter time. When I say held I actually meant physically restricted from jumping for the ball.
Kenny was fantastic and I would not be surprised if he gets a rookie list position with a club. His quick ball skills are top class
Delaney was strong down back as normal
Great also to Tom Curren walking around with no boot and Holmes supporting the boys as well

Thanks SaintWal,

I don't think the injury situation is so bad, some of the seven who were out of the seniors should be back next week.

Any word on Siposs?

A Facebook posting says he's at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Sounds like Longer is gone for the year. Most of the others seem short term. When does the VFL season end? Same as the AFL?

SANDRINGHAM 14.17 (101) d GEELONG 11.7 (73)

Win/loss: Sandringham 13-4 / Geelong 6-11

Telling facts: Sandringham has booked the double chance and a possible home final after leading from start to finish against Geelong. Despite an inaccurate second half - 6.12 - the Zebras set up the chance of hosting a Qualifying Final at Trevor Barker Beach Oval, needing just a final round win to secure the prized advantage.

Leading goalkickers: Saad 4, Kreymborg, McCartin 2 (Sandringham) / Kersten 5 (Geelong)

Run home: Sandringham v Casey Scorpions (H) / Geelong v Northern Blues (H)
