Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere already. Hopefully I am not Sandra Sully with this bit of new.
Rooey's next game (hopefully this week) will be game 295 and will give him the record for the most number of AFL/VFL games wearing that jumper number.
For your info, the top ten are:
294 Nick Riewoldt SK 2001-2015
294 Jack Titus RI 1926-1943
282 Matthew Richardson RI 1993-2009
249 Gary Colling SK 1968-1981
233 Todd Viney ME 1987-1999
224 John Blakey FI KA 1985-2002
211 Jack Mueller ME 1934-1950
210 Mick Conlan FI 1977-1989
210 Jason Akermanis BB BL
205 Ross Dunne CW

Re: Number 12
Funny, if I had been asked to go to court and give sworn evidence, I would have said Gary Colling wore no.13. However, I have checked and, of course, you are right.
Now I need to know who actually did wear no.13 for quite a few games at about the same time that Gary Colling was playing?

Robbie Elliott for a lot of the early part, Phil Stevens, can't remember any others in 13 during that periodStian wrote:Funny, if I had been asked to go to court and give sworn evidence, I would have said Gary Colling wore no.13. However, I have checked and, of course, you are right.

I am still hurting from 71;
my gut churns thinking of 97;
2009 was agony,
2010a was a pleasure to watch only to be devastated by 2010 b.
It hurts barracking for the Saints

Just looked it up, there was a Peter Bell from 73 to 77. Sorry Belly I don't remember you.On the Bench wrote:Robbie Elliott for a lot of the early part, Phil Stevens, can't remember any others in 13 during that periodStian wrote:Funny, if I had been asked to go to court and give sworn evidence, I would have said Gary Colling wore no.13. Re: Number 12
Hmmm, thanks for that. Phil Stevens I remember well (he came from Geelong, I think) but none of those names that you found have given me that "oh yes, of course" feeling.
I guess I'm just getting a bit elderly.

Thought Barry Lawrence wore 13.....but then I think he got 5, possibly after Ian Stewart leftStian wrote:Hmmm, thanks for that. Phil Stevens I remember well (he came from Geelong, I think) but none of those names that you found have given me that "oh yes, of course" feeling.

And Roo will end the year, if he plays every game, on 298. Second round next year for his 300th.SENsei wrote:Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere already. Hopefully I am not Sandra Sully with this bit of new.

Wish Rooey had kicked as many goals as Skinny.

It would be particularly funny if you spent years yelling abuse at #13 and calling him CollingStian wrote:Funny, if I had been asked to go to court and give sworn evidence, I would have said Gary Colling wore no.13. However, I have checked and, of course, you are right.
