Good interview, and yes he was critical of Lindsay Fox, but then that's okay because Fox is an arsehole. He also was right in saying that the Saints were dysfunctional up until Huggins and drake took over.

He's also still bitter in being sacked as captain in favour of another arsehole. Don't blame him there also.

What a Saint.

Refrained from bagging when he has every reason to but he obviously still loves his club. Interesting insight, I thought, into Jeans (success at Hawthorn helped by the quality of players), Huggins (didn't warm to the thought of sponsors and this left us lagging in the $$$$$$$ race) and Drake (both light years ahead in the late 50's and 60's but might just have lost the fire in their bellies as the 70's wore on). Didn't bag Lindsay Fox when he has every reason to despise him (dumping him as captain for silly Sidebottom; dudding him of most of his $30K testimonial earnings plus the money he is STILL owed). The poor bugger saw the best and worst of the StKilda Football Club over his 17 years and 300 games as a player.

After watching last night, I would reference much of Barry's insights as possible reasons why we still have a comparatively low member base and past players, officials and supporters respond with a "phhhhtttt" when asked if they ever get back to the club. The 1970's and 1980's ruined us and it has taken a long time to start to claw back lost ground.

We can thank the tolerance of the likes of Barry Breen that we still have a club to follow.

Great interview and in many ways quite sad.

Also explains why non football figureheads and administrators should never be allowed to make football decisions.
