Changing user names

Just wondering if we have or should have some kind of rules around posters changing their name or switching to one of their multiple identities and pretending to be someone else?

Wanting to start fresh is fair enough if you wish to turn over a new leaf, however surreptitiously switching to a new name and to then go and cause trouble with old foes is pretty low and essentially trolling.

I notice in our rules we have quite strict rules around multiple identities, but should we also have some transparency around forum members who switch names or to an old account as it may be?

Someone is absolutely taking the piss at the moment.

Report them for trolling! We don't read everything. But we do know who has changed nics and who has multiple nics. They get warnings if they breach the multiple nic rule.

you can only ban if they break forum rules on abuse
you wouldnt have a clue who most of the multiple nicks are if they are pinging all over the globe

once the details are hidden you are relying on them breaking a forum rule (abuse baiting trolling etc)
there is no way you can prove if i had a multiple nick (for eg)
which i dont (not that you could prove that)

I gave this place a week to see if things had changed over here and it seems the only change has been to some usernames ... think ill go back to lurking at least I wont get warnings for calling a spade a spade ... or in this case a Saynta a stinger ...

Just don't use the term Stinker. Even though that poster is supposedly no longer here, that gets you a warning.

Had the same discussion with the mods. I also got a warning for calling Saynta another name and when I pointed out the power go to the other poster I was told you make sense but basically bad luck. I don't mind people changing names and we don't know about it if they change their style but when it is as obvious as Saynta I think the mods should tell us and also tell us not to use his other name or you will get a warning. At least The person who changes his name gets a little embarrassment and we get fair warning not to call the person his other nic. If they completely change their style then that's fine if we don't know because we wont put 2 and 2 together and get 4.

Anyway please don't leave because we are lacking a few with genuine footy knowledge. Just forget about Saynta and post on footy. I wish I could do that also but its friggin hard when you know he is protected.

he is protected.. he is such a petty little weed of a person that he will report every single thing if he says he isn't Stinger then it should'nt bother him that people call him stinger ... its a load of crap that he can imply that im somehow denigrating a former player by pointing out a hard fact of what year he retired and basically try to turn it around that its some who a racist thing on my behalf (at least that's what I think he is trying to say cause he wont explain what he meant) he can then call a fellow countryman of myself a maggot in a disgusting thread based on a spat we had many years ago when he was posting as his former identity where he clearly states the very next post he did it to get a rise out of me (although he words it to make him sound like the victim) yet I get two wanings one cause I broke the criminal sin (but pretty funny if you ask me) of changing his name to his original persona in a quote... and then for saying he should use his made up lie of a win fall to get help for his multiple personalities ..

really its pretty clear why decent people don't buy into this crap ...
