Re: Saints vs Power match day thread
Can anyone seriously defend this umpiring.
Newnes got ping for the EXACT thing the Port player did in front of their goal with 5 seconds to play, a second later Sinclair get hit around the head - no free kick.
Really pathetic umpiring only rivalled by our disposals

Am I the only one who thought this was a blatant 50?

Just watched it again and for absolutely no reason, the umpire is calling play on.magnifisaint wrote:yes. U cant give those.kosifantutti wrote:https://vimeo.com/135160444

Re: Saints vs Power match day thread
Away from Etihad we are the worst skilled side in the competition!
Some of our misses on goals are sole destroying.
Our midfield is and looks slow!
Teams have worked Bruce out and now just body him out of each contest, he is really struggling.
Roberton is back yo his flakey best and is having a shocker.
Two ruckmen doesnt work - poor selection!
Ports clearance work is killing us and we cant do zip to stop it.
Changes after half time:
Boak should be tagged for remainder.
Rotate Bruce & Goddard and mix things up.
Make a decision on which ruckmen they want and sub Membrey for other.
Tell talls to stop spoiling each other in contests it is farcical.
Tell mids to get front & centre in markjng contests.
Move McKenzie to back flank and Savage forward.

only Geary is more suspect than Steven with ball in hand!kalsaint wrote:Faaark frustrating to hear the lost opportunity this quarter and the panicking up forward. breaks lines, goes fast but when it comes to selecting and finding an option...Headless chook!

Re: Saints vs Power match day thread
well thats what i thought i saw the mark and lokked straight in front of where he took it to see the port player run thru and first thing i saw was an ump flapping the arms about calling play on
tad early

Re: Saints vs Power match day thread
Time to bring Membrey in I reckon, there are quite a few not contributing enough.
Hickey, Schneider and Templeton would be the first one's to make way for him imo.

I don't understand why the majority of our entries forward are bombs from 70-80m out that land shallow at about 30m out.
How can we not find another short pass at the 50 or something?
Once the ball hits the deck in our 50 and port get it they kill us on the rebound
So frustrating

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

How is Hickey going?
Will he be our next big hope...good below his knees, quick across the ground and good in the air. Sound like a taller version of Wayne Carey.

As much as I would chose Schneids based on form and value we need his leadership down forward. He does need to kick goals close in though.bigballs wrote:Time to bring Membrey in I reckon, there are quite a few not contributing enough.

You sound like someone who thought they could win but because we aren't you make silly statements. Im guessing the sides below us have worse skill.

That's the way. Sarcastic knocking of players.
Re: Saints vs Power match day thread
How bad a game is Geary playing! Absolutely abysmal. Laughable.

Re: Saints vs Power match day thread
No gallant effort now. The review of this game will require taking apart the players effort back and forwards and asking them about their state of mind. The confidence is just not there to create. Once again I say they need to kick to the fat side once clear and move the ball quickly. This seems to be the only time the team gets the ball to moving forwards. Having it bomber to Bruce is not smart.

If only we could kick it to him.
