Hi Fingers,
Assuming they didn't make you sign a confidentiality clause it would be great if you could share some of the experience with us?

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

Were you in the stats coaches box or the main one. I think they usually put people in the stats box. Well they do at the Tigers.

Re: In the coaches' box today
So all in all a very insightful day. I am sure I will forget some stuff so please ask.
- Club does a great job. Very welcoming and organised
- Coaches box (CB) a lot quieter than I thought but at the same time a lot is being said
- AR is a strong voice
- He will argue very strongly with his line coaches and hold them VERY accountable
- From my limited knowledge his insight into the game and what is happening is amazing
- All coaches contribute lots to each other, to AR and to the players
- As full on that AR gets with his line coaches he is always positive to the players - but never misses a chance to make a point
- the IT and Stats guys are amazing
Happy to post more after some sleep - and if there is something specific people want to know - just ask.

Who were you sitting next to and did they ask you any questions at all before or after the game and what restrictions did they give you.

Re: In the coaches' box today
There are 2 big sections to the box. One that you usually se on the TV with the coaches, the other with the guys doing the video and the stats. I was sitting at the end of the latter - and closest to AR and the data guy that sits next to him. No chit chat really - not even amongst themselves. Not at all on reflection. They all said hi. New why I was there (Maddie Foundation etc) - only restrictions were phone had to be off or you get an AFL fine (like Shane Warne did a few weeks ago!), no barracking or speaking at all. The video/stats guys do not say a word for the whole match. So essentially I was sitting 2 seats across from AR.plugger66 wrote:fingers wrote:So all in all a very insightful day. Re: In the coaches' box today
Thanks for the insight Fingers. I am sure many of us are extremely interested in a peek inside the inner sanctum.
Any insight into interaction level between leaders on the field (when resting) and the coaches. Is it mainly one-way instructions, or is feedback asked for?

Re: In the coaches' box today
There were a couple of times where AR spoke to Joey, Roo, Armitage, Gilbert about what they (the players) were seeing and what the coaches wanted to do.Junction Oval wrote:Thanks for the insight Fingers. I am sure many of us are extremely interested in a peek inside the inner sanctum.

Thanks Fingers. Did you sense any frustration with any particular player or conversely explicit praise which was obvious?fingers wrote:

Interested to know if our whipping boys are the same as the coaches.

Re: In the coaches' box today
Obvious question... What happened at 3/4 time?
Or alternatively what was the sense over us not playing for nearly 3/4

I really enjoyed reading about your experience on Saints.com.fingers wrote:chook23 wrote:good article James
Thanks! I sent it to the club to make sure I wasn't writing anything I shouldn't - they liked it.
Re: In the coaches' box today
Good stuff - I take it you aren't allowed to share anything you might have heard about specific players...?
