Jason Gram had more height and greater pace - he was one of the quickest players in the AFL, certainly in our side. Shane Savage is slow (think Dunstan) and not tall, which is why have him (think Hawthorn's backline). Shane is a consistently more accurate kick, although not as long, but can't kick on his non preferred (neither could Jason Gram). If oppositions let Shane Savage run past on the right hand side of teammates then they shouldn't be surprised if he has a shot from 50.

Today, Jason Gram is 31. Just another lost player to the Saints before his time. It's a rather long list.

Completely disagree on Savage's pace and on Grams pace. Gram was no quicker than Savage, or if he was never showed it when he was at the Saints.

Savage is a much better kick than Gram who was renown for the Grambulance shank at least twice a game, and the occasional beautiful 60 metre bullet.

Neither has or had an opposite foot.

Gram deserved to be delisted and is not missed.
I agree with absolutely everything you've said here Bunk. Spot on. I'd take Savage everyday of the week over Gram.
Well I wouldn't yet. Gram was nearly best on the ground in a GF. funny how some people lose their ability when they leave. 4 weeks ago I think Savage may have been dropped or there were people wanting him dropped. Gram still has him covered by a long way IMO except for his kicking.

Didn't say he couldn't play, I was disputing that Gram was much quicker than Savage and was a better kick.

Bit of a difference.
The comment was to AE comment. Should have got rid of your quotes I suppose but I forgot.

Where are the idiots in the media who critised the club for the trade now!?!
can confirm for sure that pick got us Dunstan and Savage, not sure about Acers.

A great trade in the end
No we didn't get Acres out of that trade.

Hawthorn gave us pick 17 (which became 18) pick 19 (buddy compo) and savage for Ben and pick 25.
18 and 19 were used for dunstan and acres so it depends on how you view it but arguably we got acres and dunstan out of that trade.
Interesting to see how pick 25 goes I guess.

Hawthorn would have used the pick on some sublime left footer that never misses a target.

So all good.
