More likely the same as we got for Gwilt...nought. I reckon we'll keep him tho. Fisher to retire.dragit wrote:We might get a pick in the 40-50's for Gilbert if he left as a free agent.SaintWodonga wrote:I hope Gilbo gets picked up via free trade, we get compo pick (wishing) picks 5 & 6 Parish & Mathesien... Yeah, I know he is smaller than the tall Freo type mids but the kid can create space which is a rare commodity and the hallmark of a champion.Old Mate wrote:Yes you do you just don't know it.....will be a gun !Teflon wrote:Don't want Parish to small..
He will be a star.

Re: mock draft 2015
The craze at the moment is oversized midfielders like Pendlebury, Fyfe and Bontempelli when it should come down to football ability in the first instance. I guess recruiters believe a tall mid with football ability is better than a smaller or average size mid with football ability!saynta wrote:When has 5' 11''in the old measurements been tpp small for a midfielder?

Re: mock draft 2015
Adam Treloar is listed at 181 cm and seems clubs prepared to throw millions at him.
Would appear there's still room for shorter mids if they're good enough.

It's like the craze for 200cm tall forwards when the most successful tall forwards are 192-196cms. Boyd, Daniher, Patton and the rest of the 200cm tall forwards....are unproven.

So lets see:
Brisbane - Schache (good story considering his dad)
Gold Coast - Weitering (unless they can find a suitable trade)
Carlton - Francis
Melbourne #4
Bombers #5
Saints #6

Geez, I hope you're right. Curnow is a bit of an enigma, given that he's unsighted this carnival but I see where you are going.Old Mate wrote:Con Gorozidis wrote:So lets see:

Melbourne already have Brayshaw and Petracca so Curnow is their utility player. Both Carlton and Essendon need KPP's hence Francis and Weideman.
Francis seems to be slipping down the order due to a quiet second half of the carnival.

Joey wasn't as highly rated as Parish is... went at pick 37 for a reason & then took 3-4 years to really get going.skeptic wrote:Montagna went against the grain... very highly rated jnr in his comp

Re: mock draft 2015
The only reason Francis is seen to be slipping down the order of amateur draft watchers is due to the numbskull SA coaching staff playing him on Schache (who is 7cm & 15 kgs's heavier).stjay wrote:Geez, I hope you're right. He's a gun & will be right in the mix for the top 5. He's not a KP player through, he's a tall mid/ utility ala BJ.

Dees will add another gun to the stable......when they come they have some serious top end talent....their question will be the rest of the list...
“Yeah….nah””

I think the chances are slim too especially if any of the top five trade their pick.Teflon wrote:if Parish is what people say there is no hope we'll get him at 6....Con Gorozidis wrote:So lets see:

Melbourne does need a bigger body utility type but who knows....?
Still too early but my guess is we will end up with Mahieson which is still a great pick up - genuine ball winner and has an outside game as well.
Re: mock draft 2015
Callum Twomey says....
Midfielder 181cm Geelong Falcons.
Darcy Parish is very close to being the best midfielder in the draft because of his ability to take the game forward. The run-and-carry specialist loves to take the game on. He's instinctive and tries to get the ball his team's way, and quickly. He uses it well, is smart around goal, and offers a spark whenever he's around the ball. He also belies his size to throw himself into the action, and he played with a broken thumb (which required surgery and six weeks on the sidelines) in the academy's game against the Northern Blues.
Callum Twomey also says....
Key Defender 193cm Dandenong Stingrays.
Kieran Collins has added important run and intercept marking to his game in the past two months, which has seen the key defender move up the draft ranks. The 17-year-old sticks to his task and is a reliable option to hold down a key forward. But his rise as a prospect has come in his developing confidence to run the ball out of defence and add some attacking elements to his make-up.
Perfect, Perfect, Perfect, Perfect, Perfect, Perfect, Perfect, Perfect, Perfect, Perfect, Perfect, Perfect, Perfect, Perfect, Perfect, Perfect, Perfect, Perfect.
The only problem is if we keep winning we have no hope of getting either

Give it a rest - there's no guarantee we would get him even if we didn't win another game for the rest of the season.citywest wrote:Callum Twomey says....

I kind of hope we get pick 5. I dont want to see Essendon getting a pick ahead of us. Pick 5 would be perfect.

Finishing too high would be counter productive and a fools paradise.
We need to increase our probability of getting a good quality midfielder while also showing some progress and improvement.
Would you like me to explain probability to you?
p.s nice piece of tagging this afternoon. You are like Ryan Crowley. Every time I post you are right there breathing down my neck within seconds.

Id rather pick one. Don't see why 5 is perfect and certainly don't care what clubs are before or after us.
