Re: Poll: Who Goes Off the List This Year?
I doubt we will trade for a player. Especially with the first three rounds.
I have a suspicion that we will go to the draft with as many picks as we can get within the top 25-30.
2016 will be going for trades and free agency. Rookies will be interesting.

"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....

I hope we look at all options. Carlisle might be a million to one but it would be a huge pickup for us especially if he gets off the Drugs charge or they only get a few matches. He has another 10 years in the game. Draft picks may become stars or not play at all.

Re: Poll: Who Goes Off the List This Year?
From the rookie list I'd cut Saad and Schneiderstjay wrote:Think it is about who is coming out of contract and the likelihood of being re-signed.
Here's the list:
St. Kilda: Sam Gilbert (UFA), Sam Fisher (UFA), Arryn Sipposs, Farren Ray, Tom Simpkin, Sean Dempster, Lewis Peirce, Spencer White, Darren Minchington, Daniel Markworth, Joseph Baker-Thomas, Jason Holmes, Adam Schneider, Ahmed Saad, Brenton Payne
A lot of votes for Tom Curren but he is not out of contract.
From the main list...
- Darren Minchington: too many players in that position that are better
- Spencer White: hasn't come on
- Sam Fisher: retire. We need to develop are future full back
- Tom Simpkin: Not good enough
Siposs and Markworth are playing for their careers right now
Curren and Saunders are under extreme pressure but with an extra year
Lee and Murdoch also under pressure but seem better prospects
We have til the end of the season to figure out what to do with Hickey and Gilbert
Pierce gets an extra season based on us having more players to move on first
We need to get at least one more key back in the off-season
Re: Poll: Who Goes Off the List This Year?
Chose Hickey and Farren. Hickey because I think Longer will be the go and I think we can still get something very good for him. Farren because I think he's done, not that I don't appreciate his service.
Oh I do like to be beside the sea side!!

For a start, Schneider is not on the rookie list so thank heavens Ahmeet Bains has his pen on the contracts and not you, Skeptic!skeptic wrote:From the rookie list I'd cut Saad and Schneiderstjay wrote:Think it is about who is coming out of contract and the likelihood of being re-signed.

I thought I would vote for all of them so we can bottom out and start again! It seems like we were far too promising on the weekend to satisfy the dark side of many on this forum.

I think you owe Skeptic an apology. Schneider is certainly on the rookie list.

Still, gald Ameet is in charge and none of us or the club would be history.

Love him or hate him Schneider has done enough thus far to warrant another 12 months, his body has held up.
Chips is more than likely finished which is a shame coz he's been a great servant.

Re: Poll: Who Goes Off the List This Year?
Fascinating responses. Changes based on the current voting:
Gone for all money: Simpkin, White, Saad (r)
On thin ice: Curren
Possibly in trouble: Siposs, Minchington, Pierce
May be asked to retire: Fisher, Ray, Schneider (r)
That's 8 on the main list and 2 rookies who could be in the gun. Sounds like a pretty fair list, excluding trades I wouldn't think too many others would be pulled into speculation.

Likely match a FA bid or let him walk?

Gone: Saunders, Minchington, White, Simpkin
Retire: Schneider
Let go into retirement or free-agency: two of Gilbert, Fisher, Ray or Dempster.
Last Chance Saloon: Murdoch, Lee, Siposs, Markworth, Saad.

Re: Poll: Who Goes Off the List This Year?
Very surprised 4 people have ticked Payne.
The guy is the youngest on the entire list and probably the skinniest.
Shown he can play at VFL level already. That is a good sign. Definite keeper for next year.

Brenton Payne
Brenton was one of our best and it was definitely his best game for the season. He led and presented really well, and although he only kicked one, his repeat efforts were fantastic. He had a super game.
Re: Poll: Who Goes Off the List This Year?
I'm just going on the votes and from that point of view only 3 out of 40+ think he might go, so he sounds pretty safe.stjay wrote:And what do you think happens to Gilbert?bergholt wrote:Fascinating responses. Changes based on the current voting:

Personally, I'd say we shouldn't match a huge FA bid, but at the same time I don't think he'll get one. We don't have many tall backs and he's relatively young so I'd expect him to be around for years yet.
