open arms.

If it doesn't cost us anything and he comes on the cheap.

He's 30.

One last roll of the dice in 2018?

BJ went to Nathan Burke & demanded 4 years & to be the highest paid player at the club.
Burke told him to win a B&F & he will consider it.
He didn't want to leave but the extra year (4 years) & 700-800k plus a list that was going into a rebuild convinced him to go.
We didnt move heaven & earth to keep him either.

BJ will always be a Saint. I couldn't stand the way he sooked through his last season and I wasn't as surprised (as he was) when he left. Calle StKilda's bluff; ended up at the Bummers.

His intense personality makes him a standout assistant coach in waiting. As a player, he always had that X-factor and his 2010 (drawn) grand final wil remain one of the greatest individual efforts by a player to drag his team to a premiership (with aid from Lenny).

When he is done I would love to have him back at the club. Unfortuntely for BJ, it now looks as if his great mate Roo is closer to a Premiership by sticking fat with the Saints than he is by moving to the "glamour" club!

Screw him. Let him his enjoy his cash.
We have moved on. Look to the future. Rather get games into Acres than waste time with BJ.

For one year? Who cares.
The club would not even contemplate taking Goddard back. We have already won 5 games. We can now afford to back youth. We will attack the draft again. Acres will play plenty of games next year in Ray's role and Roberton is already an out and out gun.

Agree.
I would welcome him back.
He would be the cream on top off half back….

Fantastic player for us. Don't see the point of having a go at him. Why we would want him back id beyond me.

Their may be a come home Dal thread if we towel up north Melbourne in the coming weeks
Both sides appear to have peaked and gone after too many experienced players without reaching the ultimate success.

If he came back on the cheap I'd welcome him back.
It will never happen though. Realistically he's too old to consider and the team has gone passed him now.

One has to wonder how bad things are at Essendon though. I have never seen a worse game from BJ ever and we all know what a competitor he is. I have no beef with him, just feel sorry he has got caught up in all the crap Essendon have bought down on themselves.

Think of me long enough to make a memory.

I'd have him back only if he replaces an older list player and was cheap.

Yes I think he wishes he was here but not sure if he actually regrets the decision but rather the circumstances of his departure, he did the right thing for his future that's why I doubt he regrets it. Yes they earn a lot of money but it's not like NBA where a guy leaves a 30mil contract for a 40mil. Afl players make a comfortable amount but their futures are always unpredictable after football.

BJ is obviously a good player but is too old to return to us.

We have Acres anyway.

I'm sure the Essendon players would pitch in to get him back to StKilda.

they must be sick of the constant belittling and armwaving and finger pointing.

When BJ went to the Bummers he won a B&F ( possibly two?). Great player for the Saints, but never good enough for a B&F
This led me to believe that the Bummers list was not as good as they thought.
I think after the first game against us when he cried at the end of the game he made a realisation that he should never gave gone.
All that being said, we don't need him any more

What would we do with him now that Siposs has superseded him?

Some valid observations there mate, but he WAS an elite player, just not one anymore on yesterday's performance anyway.

I'm betting he does already. He went to the cheaters chasing finals in what has turned out to be the biggest mistake of his career. The Saints will be playing finals long before the Bombers.

Our playing group has moved on. Bringing Goddard back would only be destabilising to the
team unity that Richardson is nurturing.

He decided to "Don the Cash", good luck to him, but there is no place for him in our redevelopment.
