Gerard Healy commentation yesterday..
Was it just ME? Cause it could well be...
But he seemed to be extremely Melbourne biased yesterday, to the point of being sickening, and I normally dont care or even notice when biased commentating is happening.
The Melbourne love yesterday to me seemed WAY over the top! Was it my imagination??

Listened to the ABC coverage on afl site. Stan Alves, Jeff White and someone else. Good call. And the crowd excitement came over nicely.

Interesting one. He was a Saints supporter growing up, but played for Melbourne and the Swans. Maybe he's Saints except when we play Melbourne

Had a strong pro Saints call team with Gerard and Sandy Roberts. Sandy doesn't call many games, but he's doing well this year, called the comeback against the Dogs!!

He's very much a Swans supporter these days. By the way his dad used to run the Saints social club back in the daysbigcarl wrote:Interesting one. He was a Saints supporter growing up, but played for Melbourne and the Swans. Maybe he's Saints except when we play Melbourne

Ditto, gave actual insight into the style of the game from a coaches perspective rather than the nonsense other commentators trot out these days.prwilkinson wrote:I watched the replay. Really enjoy bomber thompsons comments.
He didn't seem confident talking but it's new to him. Hope to see more of him.

I would have Gerard Healy calling a game over the likes of Luke Darcy any day of the week.
Curb your enthusiasm - you’re a St.Kilda supporter!!

So was I the only one that thought that Bomber sounded like he had hoovered up a couple of lines before he went on air??

Re: Gerard Healy commentation yesterday..
Nope.
He had no idea.
The only tactic he mentioned was instead of switching to chb then over to the other flank to attack....he would've instructed to go down tthe middle after the first kick.
Brilliant stuff nuffy.

As soon as Bomber and Gerard started talking us up during the game the Dees would get on top.
Bomber is very bullish on the Saints.
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.

Agree with both. Yep always like listening to Bomber Thompson's insight into the game. Maybe not confident with the mic yet, but sounds like a real person, not a try-hard.Griggsy wrote:Ditto, gave actual insight into the style of the game from a coaches perspective rather than the nonsense other commentators trot out these days.prwilkinson wrote:I watched the replay. Didn't think Healy was too biased towards Melb.

Love the way he asks a question then says - yeah.
Always found that amusing.
Was very nice to listen to someone fresh and not scripted clichés.
He commented that Richo had the Saints playing now the type of football he will want from them in three years when they have matured, Draw an interesting parallel between this group and the young Cats of the early naughties.
I think Bomber would like to coach this team in a year or two.

That last sentence of yours B_M, went through my mind as well. He seemed very impressed with Saints & their development to dateBunk_Moreland wrote:He is a strange bird that one.prwilkinson wrote:I watched the replay. Really enjoy bomber thompsons comments.
