It's ridiculous, what more can Acres do to avoid the vest!

Someone has to wear it, thankfully for the 12th last time.

Shenton got bloody dropped and now he's named to start on the wing.
Acres can actually use the ball well, someone the whole team struggles with.
He has time and composure, something the whole team struggles with.
Why he doesn't get a start is beyond me.

Strange indeed- creative player who can get the ball out of tight situations, and should be on from the first bounce.

Maybe the coaches think he will do more damage coming on as t h e sub later in the game, but I see your point

Im disappointed with this; however, I thought that in the 2nd or 3rd last week that he didnt attack the ball as hard as he could / should have. I thought it was a real turning point in the game. It was near the centre circle and the ball was bouncing. He hit it at 3/4 pace and a hawk cleared it and banged it forward. He may find himself as sub because of team rules in this regard.

Any thoughts?

He will still get a half.

There are a couple of others that need looks too.

Bit slow getting rid of the ball at times, think he's struggling a bit to get used to the pace of the game imo, but that will come with experience. Having said that, I still would have liked to have seen him start the game without the vest.

Acres is a curious case. Hasn't got anywhere near the same game time as Dunstan and Billings despite showing solid form and on a very long contract.

Whatever the reason, really disappointing.

I would much rather him play a full game and someone like Shenton or Ray be the sub.

Run faster for one, he looked slow last week.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

He needs a lot more fitness and intensity at the ball. Is still very inexperienced and does not perform well under pressure.

His kick on the Members wing very late in the last quarter, was popped up to where two big Melbourne players were. There were other, better short options, that offered guaranteed ball retention. He will learn from these experiences.

He makes a few schoolboy errors as you'd expect from someone not long out of school.

I'm prepared to cut him some slack because there's clearly some talent there. Reads the play well and he will be terrific once he feels he belongs

If he struggles with AFL pace
Makes a few errors
Doesnt feel like he belongs yet....

Only way to fix it is experience....

Still looks like he is coming to term with the pace of the game........ gets caught too often early in games when trying to finesse his way through situations. Actually I think he looks better as matches progress when the game slows down a little, could be a reason behind him being a sub

He's a lad we will need a little patience with as he does appear to have some good skill sets in his kit bag

I am a huge Blake Acres fan, but I was very disappointed with his output yesterday, he looked very lethargic and lacked intensity when the match situation called for the complete opposite, the kick in the last 2 minutes was terrible, it was careless and nearly cost us the game.
He has to get more desperate, he has the ability but he just has to go harder

100% agree
He was cruising in the last qtr when I was watching him.
Maybe he was annoyed at the sub thing

The dude is 19 and 190cm. Will take him some time to get his mojo going at the top level. I am fairly sure he is trying. Still filling into his body I think. Let's see how he is going at 21.
