I'm of the firm view being dogmatic is a Christian virtue.... hang with me brother I have much to teach you
Next stop: courage and conviction....
That's interesting.

Are cheating and dishonesty Christian virtues too?
Yes, actually but that's a different topic
I align to the Marx bros theory "these are my principles, if you don't like them....... I have others!!"
You Christian Pav?
Still no ideas from you on how we can bring top line talent into the club other than finish 9th...
I suppose tanking and fraud are virtues as well!

I prefer open mindedness than intolerant dogma and ideology.

Pick no 4 is better than pick 5.

Go hard in the draft.

You're a profound poster, Teflon.

lol.
By open minded you mean empty right?
Cause yep so far in this thread I've heard you moan about not having a clue how to get higher end talent into the club and dodge questions
I'd leave words like profound alone Pav.... it don't fit you..,

You honestly wouldn't want to win 9 of our last 12? What is wrong with supporters. Hoping for some magical cure by losing.

Draft hard time folks

The difference is neither of those 2 people are hoping we will lose games. They just think we will win about 6 games. Seems about the right number based on form and who we play. If we won our last 12 I don't think either person would be upset. You would be though because you want us to get the best possible pick and that means losing our last 12.
No the difference is many on here won't say it
I will
To win long term we'll need to drop a few and that's ok
Man up, take the pain now with a view to bigger things later
OR
Are you advocating we finish 9th?? Is that what you want?
And when our ageing stars (playing good footy now but gone in 3 years go)
You'll be happy to see us plummet again??
Grow a pair and answer this
Are you happy for us to finish 9th this year??

I would love to finish 9th this year. Surely every true saints supporter would. It would mean winning around 9 of our last 12. Considering the fixture that would mean beating some very good sides. It would show the rebuild has well and truly started. It isn't going to happen though. We may win 3 at the most. The other option apart from trying to win every game is to lose every game or lose most but win some random game because it means something to you. That's weird in itself. The problem with winning some random game is goes against what you have said about 50 times that the system rewards you the lower you finish so at the moment winning isn't important. Of course unless its some random game that suits Teffers. And you have also said we need to finish as low as possible next year. What happens in 2017. Do you think we suddenly go from 16th to 6th. It wont happen. We will still finish in the bottom 6. You really must have been pissed off when we won a few late in 2003. We got a worse draft pick. But it did lead to winning our first 10 in 2004. Players got confidence. You would have wanted draft picks.

As for the personal stuff when did I say I want you to apologise. I said it shows how weak either you are or your argument. Very weak matter of fact. This thread also shows the inconsistency of moderating but that's another story.
Could finishing 9th simply mean our older players performed above and beyond and we had a good run?
What happens when they go - back to the bottom?
Lay off the mods - it's not easy with your constant baiting

I know where we are at. That wasn't your question but that wouldn't be unusual for you to not even understand what you asked. If we won 9 of our last 12 how do you think the club would be travelling?

Is that first point just to suit you. Just words. I may say we finished 9th because Billing, Dunstan and Lonie were fantastic. If it was about the older players then in 2013 we would have won more than 5 games. I know you don't get most things but you are completely lost on this topic. Baiting? Your the person who goes the personal route because your argument has so many holes in it. It funny to laugh at you though. Makes an ordinary day hilarious. Even club has a supporter who just doesn't get it. They don't normally prove it over and over again like you have on this thread.

It makes no sense. Its clear it makes no sense. So like Teffers you want the best draft position possible so I gather you are happy to lose all the games as well or do you want to win some random games for no particular reason?

If the club made 9th it would be largely on the back of stellar performances from ageing stars who in 3 years will be gone/on 1 leg before we once again head for the bottom
I think making 9th now would be an anomaly given our lists age groups an would serve well to ensure we miss out on a top 5 pick
Someone said we got Armo for 9 - that's good, he's becoming a very good player..... elite ? Not in my definition and we need elite
I'd take my chances with another top 5 pick to go with Billings and co now thanks, get games into them while Roo and co are still there and not pretend wins now are the be all cause they aren't
Immediate short term focus is to expand the talent pool
One way to do that is draft
To do that we will need to lose games along the way - so be it for mine
The club also knows it's 4-5 years away..... let's stop kidding ourselves that we HAVE to win 12 straight or we are losers etc cause that's simply not true.

No but you want the best pick possible and anyone who deals in common sense then realises to get the best pick possible you have to lose every game for the rest of the season. You then tell us you want to win random games for no particular reason other than you don't like the side or some other silly reason. Message to Teffers, who cares who you don't like. Pretty sure I didn't call him a non supporter but you do have a way of fibbing to sound emotive. I want to win the flag. You mentioned 9th and I said that would be a good result. There you go. All emotive again. And what does go Tiges even mean? We play Melbourne this week. Im sure you will come with some reason you said go Tiges though. Logic and Teffers. Black and White. Plugger and Arnol. Navratalova and Sharapova.

If the question is...

Would you prefer to:

A: win a few more great games, get as high on the ladder as possible but miss finals and miss out on the first 9 draft pick allocations

or
B: lose most of the following 11 games, finish at/near the bottom of the ladder and get a top 3 draft pick allocation

then my answer is A.

I can understand why some folks choose B. People are looking at GWS and so on and thinking that teams just suddenly create momentum and a winning culture when they get enough good players.

But that is taking all the beauty of following a team just for the dry theory of planning. I can do that in my normal life. Football matches are played to be won, not as a means to an end. Finals are the reward for good play during the H&A, even though I appreciate that staff and players at our club would see it differently. But I am a fan, I love watching the game, I love watching the Saints win, I love seeing our club get strong and earn respect. If we have another year like last year, I'd still love the Saints but I wouldn't love that year, as much as it's given us, and I'd hate to think of anyone at the club aiming for more of that.

I reckon if we were all going to matches instead of checking the results out on the internet, we'd all want A.

Essentially this arguement boils down to heart vs head, if you accept the feasible logic of the Teflon Theory.

The day that football becomes to me what it is to Chris Pelchen* is the day I find a new pasttime.

*Not knocking the Pelican and I'm so glad he was with us, just saying that he had a job to do, and a long term result in mind.

No wonder we have 1 flag in 100 plus years....

The best possible pick is the lowest we can finish with 12 games left. Pick 5 will happen without hoping we will lose games because we are a bottom 5 side. We don't need to hope we lose to finish in that position. it was strange that earlier on this thread you want pick 3 but are now happy with pick 5. Surely you have the strength to keep your original position. And again I never said I want us to finish 9th. I want us to win the flag this year but it will take 16 wins in a row. maybe beyond us but hopefully we try to win as many as possible and we have most if not all supporters on board. I think we may win 2 or 3 more. I hope we win 16 more. And yep me wanting a short term fix is why we have won one flag in 117. And you say im delusional. That may be the best yet Teffers.

Who wants to lose this week? I certainly don't. Those wanting 16th or 17th want to lose this week. Basic maths probably tells you that. Each to their own. maybe they just fast forward the next 2 years or do they like hoping the opposition win?
