Re: Changes for next week
Don't care. WB didn't even play one against the best ruck in the AFL and they nearly got up and won. Tap work is completely overrated. Maybe
Tap work has been considered pretty important for the past........say.....140 years.....most clubs coaches seem to think it's important......

Is it tap work or what they do around the ground. Nit Nat had his best game for the year last week. It wasn't because he won taps as he always does, its because he finally got the ball. Not surprisingly Longer best game for the year was when he got the ball. In his last 5 games he hasn't had over 8 possessions a game. If it was all about tap work then we would just get 7 footers to play the game. I reckon most club coaches rate it less important than getting the ball a bit.

Re: Changes for next week
Interesting to hear Simon madden on 'open mike' last week talk about modern ruckman. Mike suggested there's no complete ruckman in the comp at the mo that is absolute top shelf...madden talked about how sandilands was close but his around the ground stuff just wasn't quite top notch. Madden still saw a place for modern rucks to influence the game today through transition in the middle of the ground, but he did talk about how important and how much time he spent on tap work...just food for thought.
100% agree Billy's best games are when he influences around the ground...just think it's going to be short term pain for longer term gain, no pun intended.

That's fine for Longer in the long term but what does it mean for Hickey in the long term. He isn't a forward.

Re: Changes for next week
Think I wrote in another post, perhaps it's not all about billy... Maybe the coaching staff have been very direct and said to hickey...look, we're going to give plenty time up forward this season to go easy on your knees and work on your forward craft, it doesn't mean your no 2 ruck, just that we need to be cautious with your body and billy can cop the greater physical pounding by doing most of the around the ground rucking...come next season if your both fit and firing, it's whoever is best overall package...that's just a theory I've come to.

Re: Changes for next week
I'd have Savage in for sure, we need the speed he has. We looked like plodders in the preseason game.
I don't imagine they've got any slower

Why drop DMac and Sinclair? We need to get games into these kids, and Sinclair will shortly be going back to the rookie list anyway.

I'm assuming Daniel is as sore as reported Baz, that was some sort of a hit to his back.borderbarry wrote:Why drop DMac and Sinclair? We need to get games into these kids, and Sinclair will shortly be going back to the rookie list anyway.
