A transgender round would be popular with the Docker fans.Junior wrote:Maybe for Tom we could have brown paper bag round, that should get him interested.saintspremiers wrote:I agree with Tom Elliott
Let's get rid of all themed rounds
They are all pretty meaningless
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

Re: Indigenous Round Jumpers 2015
I think they need to keep the designs simple. I'm a big fan of the "less is more" principle. These guernsey looks like they were designed for a production of Joseph and His Technicolour Dreamcoat, not for football teams. I'm all for artists making art and expressing themselves, but I have no idea why they'd use the team guernseys as a canvas if the designs are meant to be so intricate. The art could be put into much better use. Potentially, everyone could be a winner, but instead the AFL has chosen to make the event one great big eyesore.stjay wrote:Sainternist wrote:No, not the concept of the Indigenous Round. I was referring to the guernsey designs done for it. They could be SO MUCH BETTER. Ken Done may as well have designed them. No doubt people like Daryl Somers who have absolutely no dress sense are collecting them. I mean, why not design something which looks good and people would actually consider buying? Answer me that.stjay wrote:Ok I'll bite.Sainternist wrote:The concept is becoming a joke. Even clown suits are taken more seriously. It's time for sensible bloody designs to be put together. How is the concept a joke? 83k+ at the G, 3rd biggest home'n'away crowd between those two teams when neither club is really up and about. I don't think the guernsey needs to be asthetically pleasing or sell off the shelf to make the concept a success, it runs a little deeper than that. Personally I was not enthralled or put off by our jumper today - thought the symbolism behind it was good though.
Sorry I totally disagee with your view on this but I guess that's what makes the world go 'round.
Well, it's about indigenous artists expressing a story or a meaning in their way & style. If it is about asthetics then it loses the authenticity of the artist's expression.
I don't know how much of it is ultimately refined by other designers to make it fit the jersey maybe they could have found a better colour combination and retained the integrity of the design - it was an away jersey after all. But surely at the end of the day the symbolism and message is more important in a round dedicated to indigenous heritage than how fashionable or saleable it might be.

Potentially the whole concept could be great. The main thing that let us down this year is just the crappy graphics that were supposed to encapsulate and present the idea to the world.
For a footy jumper to work it has to be OK up close, but it has to be really good at a distance. St Kilda's this year (while good in meaning) was very poor from a distance (just indistinctly whitish) and not great up close. Brisbane's was hopeless at all distances, so at least we looked better by contrast.
Most teams this week looked messy and indistinct, (except Collingwood, who just stuck a badge in the middle of their regular jumper).
Like Sainternist, I'd love to see an indigenous round, and an Anzac round, where the jumpers were bold, distinctive, meaningful and pride-inducing. Pride in the club, the code and the cause.
