Re: Acres should never play vfl again
Aaron Hamill couldn't hold back the superlatives!
"Q: What did you think of Acres performance in the 3rd and 4th?
AH: He was OK. He looked to use his legs. He's another one we need to get games into."
oh well at least it seems they want to play him!

Re: Acres should never play vfl again
This kid is going to suffer from the same attacks as Dal Santo did in the early years of his career....
Because of the way he moves and plays, when things are going good, everyone gushes about how natural and easy this guy has it. But when he starts battling a little bit, he becomes lazy and isn't working hard enough.
It's the Mark Waugh complex.

Except Dal was genuinely lazy. Wouldn't break out of a job unless the ball was within 20m. Don't get me wrong, I think Dal was a great player for us but early in his career he had an appalling work ethic off the ball. Responded incredibly well after being dropped in '05 though.St Chris wrote:This kid is going to suffer from the same attacks as Dal Santo did in the early years of his career....

It was at least 07. Reckon he responded way before that. God we are harsh on some of our stars.

This is a case of my having to say "me too".The_Merchant wrote:Was surprised by his pace. Looked genuinely quick at stages. Promising game.
I was in bay 38 39 or thereabouts. His turn of speed to pass and outrun two weagles actually delighted me. I thought he was slow.

He seems to be slow off the first step but is quick when he is already moving. There are a few guys with the opposite in the team like Lonie who seem to be going full tilt off one step. Miley was like that too, wasn't fast but you couldn't catch him.saynta wrote:This is a case of my having to say "me too".The_Merchant wrote:Was surprised by his pace. The thing is: he's a quick thinker. His hands are quick. So even if he's not explosively quick, he seems to know what he's going to do very quickly.gringo wrote:He seems to be slow off the first step but is quick when he is already moving. Like Hammill said - they need to give him a few games before they can actually judge him properly, if he is indeed putting in the effort required.

Don't remember Miley Cyrus playing for us.gringo wrote: Miley was like that too, wasn't fast but you couldn't catch him.
Opinions are like arseholes, everybody's got one.

Absolutely. The more time he has to settle in the better.Bluthy wrote:Hope Blake gets a full game - he's earnt it.
It's a shame ignorance isn't painful
Re: Acres should never play vfl again
Solid effort, had 10 by quarter time. Dried up a bit after that as we had so much of the ball in our forward half so not his fault.
Finishing with 20 is decent and cramping at the end in the heat and humidity.
Best moment I remember is he kept his feet with 2 lions tackling him and still got a handball out, pretty strong effort for the experience he has had.

Solid. 20 plus 3 tackles. Cramped up and head clash with LD. So eventful day. Clearly held his own.Griggsy wrote:Solid effort, had 10 by quarter time. Dried up a bit after that as we had so much of the ball in our forward half so not his fault.

Seems to play quite similar at VFL or AFL level.
Is he a left or right footer? Seems to go on both which is a good sign.
Re: Acres should never play vfl again
It was his 6th game but only his second full game. He's 19 years old until October. Very very early in his career. Developing well.

Re: Acres should never play vfl again
8cres had the 6th most possessions for us yesterday with 75% disposal efficiency. At 190cm (6'3") he seems to move really well and was involved in a number of link up plays with some great handballs. More full games at AFL level is what's needed for him.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

No awareness. Caused that head clash with Dunstan. Should retire immediately.

Wasn't there another game where he started but was subbed out early?bergholt wrote:It was his 6th game but only his second full game. He's 19 years old until October. Very very early in his career. Developing well.

I'm sure he was, he was actually lucky his head was knocked into the face of Dunstan. I think his would have been sore but not much damage compared to Luke.
Re: Acres should never play vfl again
Looked really good vs the Lions. A very exciting prospect. I can't wait until he is fitter and a touch stronger, he'll be a star
