Re: VFL Rd 7 Sandringham Vs Tigers
Good summary BBMD
The Josh Saunders running goal was the highlight of the day and the sealer.
Goddard is very strong in the air and pulled in a couple of rippers.
One you missed was Membrey who was solid and kicked a clutch goal in to the wind in the third qtr when The Sewers were running and looking dangerous.
The wind did create havoc with heaps of shots at the northern end swirling away to the right.
Both sides persisted in playing the Beach Rd side where the wind took a heap of kicks out on the full.
The match was a lot tighter than the score line indicates as we kicked away with about 4 junk time goals and they were more wasteful in front of goal.

Re: VFL Rd 7 Sandringham Vs Tigers
Thanks BBMD, report much appreciated.BringBackMadDog wrote:Sandy kicked away in the last quarter to win by 40 points. The two most influential players on the ground were TC and Saunders. They kicked 7 or 8 goals between them and got a heap of the ball, Saunders kicked a ripper in the last when he intercepted a handball in the centre of the ground and then took off, he is super quick took 3 bounces and burnt off too opposition players before kicking the goal.
Lee played a great game at full back, he played most of the game on Currie who is a monster at 200cm and 110kg, last week Currie kicked 5 and had over 20 disposals, today he took maybe one or two contested marks in the forward50 and I don't think he kicked a goal. Lee used his body really well to push currie out of position and then when he got the ball his kicking is first class.
Gilbert got through the game well and looked better and better as the game wore on. Ross and minchington were both good after half time.
Goddard was brilliant after qtr time, he must've taken 6 or 7 really strong contested marks and his disposal was really good.
Nathan Wright dominated across half back after half time he was aggressive and mopped up the loose ball, what wa really pleasing was his disposal, he hit targets in really difficult conditions.
Holmes was the best ruck man on the ground, his tap work was a stand out but he also go a bit of the ball.
Ray was serviceable without dominating
All in all it was a great win against an unbeaten team.
Gee week after week, I am becoming more hopeful & confident that Tommy Lee has turned his fortunes around and we will again see him representing the Saints. Hope it's not too long before he gets his chance to strut his stuff in the big league!
Loved reading those positives on Saunders and Nat Wright...and, ofcourse all the others you mentioned. Thanks again

Must have been a good win as Werribee were on top. Initially thought they down the ladder.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.
Re: VFL Rd 7 Sandringham Vs Tigers
Holmes took some good marks around the ground as did Mitch Brown. Lewis Pierce seemed to be on the ground most of the game mainly at full forward. Missed a few but always made a contest. Great to see Gilbo up and about - made a difference.

Must say I'm impressed with the reports on Tom Lee and Hugh Goddard.
Hugh, as I've said before, will ultimately be the better of the Goddards (no pressure Hugh).
On Lee, let's hope he gets the chance to prove the naysayers wrong. He's struggled with injury in previous years and now that he's having an injury-free run, maybe that's all he needed.

Agreed, he has that ability to release a handball in very tight that finds our outsiders runners in space. Once his fitness gets up and he can get from contest to contest he will be straight back in the seniorsThe Disch wrote:i thought Seb was very impressive.saintbob wrote:Seb Ross??

Thanks to all who went for the reports.
I think Seb will get a game soon. I remember AR saying late last year that he was a class above VFL. Just needs to translate that to AFL level. Hopefully Lee will another opportunity. I haven't given up on him just yet.

The siren sounded for three quarter time with the home side 15 points ahead at the last change.
The Tigers challenged early in the last but the Zebras stood tall again, kicking five unanswered goals to run away with a 40-point win.
St Kilda Development Coach and Sandringham Coach Paul Hudson was pleased with his team’s desire and determination in the morale-boosting victory.
"It was a fantastic win," Hudson told SAINTS.com.au.
"Werribee are on top of the ladder and a quality outfit so to beat them on our home deck was terrific.
"We were really able to bring a strong, aggressive game from start and finish which was the most pleasing aspect.
"Hugh Goddard was really solid again and Josh Saunders stepped up as well.
"Jason Holmes and Lewis Pierce were outstanding against the Werribee ruckmen in Dan Currie and Majak Daw, who are in good form. That was really encouraging."
St Kilda pair Ahmed Saad and Spencer White were both rested and will be considered for next Saturday's game against North Ballarat at Eureka Stadium.
