Who is in for Fisher?
You reckon it would be either Lee or Goddard depending on who goes okay today? Simpkin?
Re: Who is in for Fisher?
Someone should of played for Delaney.
Someone should of played for Geary.
Neither were replaced which is odd, should have established roles, not reshuffling guys within the side who have been in form in their position.
Chips is a vet and shouldn't of played FB IMHO.
If Del and Gears are back, we need a CHB.
If not we need small defender, FB and CHB.

Re: Who is in for Fisher?
I think today's game at Sandy is going to have a big baring on who gets the nod.

And that is the problem. easy to say someone should have come in but there isn't many options. There are names but not many in form. Lee could have played FB but people watching him at sandy say he doesn't get the monsters. Anyway looking at the stats the problem seemed to be the amount on inside 50's WCE had. Hardly a backs fault. And it wasn't as if Kennedy destroyed the backs.
Re: Who is in for Fisher?
Its about structure
Good teams define roles, and the personnel is interchangeable.
Better to play Simpkin and Wright, then play Weller in the backline...they put him back in the midfield second quarter. Do wonder if Chips would of done a hammy if he was playing his usual role?
Depth is just that, they come in for just a week if needs be.

Re: Who is in for Fisher?
Fisher out for a month according to the papers. Seems like the right time to give Goddard an extended run and see how he performs.

Surely you are joking about Fisher hammy? And I know about structures but I also know about some players lack of ability. Unfortunately Wright butchers the ball a hell of a lot so if he comes in we probably lose more than we gain. Simpkin isn't ever going to play on a guy as big as Kennedy. Been there and done that.

Surely if Goddard plays well today he plays.
Brisbane don't have dangerous or experienced tall forwards and it's the perfect time to introduce him.

Re: Who is in for Fisher?
Should be Tom Lee, who should have played against WC as well.
Sounds like he has had another good game today. Is praised for his on field leadersip as well as how he plays.
I would not mind if Goddard was broght in as well as we were one tall short against WC, though Delaney may come back in.
Lions do not have a lot of big forwards, but will play 2 at least, even if they are not good ones. So we should play 2 genuine key defenders so that Dempster can go back to being an interceptor.

From what I can tell from the commentary at Sandy, Tom Lee will probably get the gig.

Re: Who is in for Fisher?
Must have missed this, how long is Delaney out for? Felt we really missed him yesterday.Good to hear Goddard and Lee showing good form at Sandy against Box Hill
At least we have some options to pick from, also feel we need to bring in 2 of the 3 mentioned if available

He said in the Social Club after the game that he hoped it was only 1 week.bergsone wrote:Must have missed this, how long is Delaney out for?
But also said it was a flare up of what he had last year.
So I would not be upset if we gave him another week off and broaght in Lee and Goddard to play the two KD roles against the Lions, who are weak for KFs anyway

Re: Who is in for Fisher?
Sliding Doors.....last year we thought Bruce would be a KPD for us and Lee a KPF..
Looks like it could be sliding doors for each of them with a move to the other end of the ground paying off for both. Lee has the tools to be a CHB. He is a good kick who can set up play.

Re: Who is in for Fisher?
I have a strong preference that Tom Lee is trialled down back this week. Lets get some information. Good VFL form. Deserves his opportunity. The time is now.

Re: Who is in for Fisher?
Lee is a must you would think. Need to give him an opportunity to prove what he can do!!!
So
Lee comes in for Fisher
Then Riewoldt if fit comes in for Eli
Delaney if fit comes in for Shenton (despite Shenton's hunger for the ball his skills and decision making lets him down)
Acers must start
and Lonie spends a week in VFL if fit, so his game time can be monitored and controlled (just to extra careful)

Hope so.stjay wrote:From what I can tell from the commentary at Sandy, Tom Lee will probably get the gig.
Goddard is only 18. Lets lay off the kid. There arent currently any KP players playing in the AFL at 18yo.
If we dont play Lee down back this week then what is the point having him on the list at all? Just send him back to Perth.
Must play Lee back this week.

Re: Who is in for Fisher?
If Tommy Lee at his age heading towards his mid 20s playing in defence at Sandringham most of the year doesn't get a chance he never will with the injuries we have. Saw him today and he did quite well. He is a beautiful kick, whether he can stand a monster we don't know.
Let's hope Delaney comes back asap because he is needed.

Re: Who is in for Fisher?
Would rather see Goddard get a run at it. He is the future not Lee. Think lee might get monstered a bit

Re: Who is in for Fisher?
There is room for both in our future backline. One advantage that Lee has is his kicking, and we need some good kicks in our back half to set up play.Razor wrote:Would rather see Goddard get a run at it. He is the future not Lee.
From reports he is a good intercept mark. Provides team balance as can be swung forward, or even play the Roo type wing link role.
Is certainaly worth a try IMO
Lee's opponent today is better than anyone he might face against the Lions.Razor wrote: Think lee might get monstered a bit
If Delaney is still out the Goddard can play as well. Against many teams having all of Delaney, Lee and Goodard would be handy. ie if WCE have haf Jack Darling we would have needed another tall.

I think I must agree with your comments.
There are some old selections lately.

Lee is only 24 still.Razor wrote:Would rather see Goddard get a run at it. He is the future not Lee. Think lee might get monstered a bit
Goddard is only 18 and too young to play KP at ALF level. I dont think there is a single 18yo holding down a KP in the entire AFL.
In any case we will need both. We need replacements for both Dempster and Fisher. So Lee and Goddard can potentially play together down back for 6 years.
If Lee is no good down back well at least we will know so we know we have to recruit for it. No point not giving ourselves information.
If we dont play Lee now then having him on the list is a waste of everybody's time.

Re: Who is in for Fisher?
After watching today's sandy game, Lee must play for Fisher. He was our best tall defender, took some great contested marks and he is a beautiful kick. Goddard wa good, I would play him if Delaney doesn't come up.
