Re: Acres should never play vfl again
No disrespect to Eli but probably should not have been picked in the first place. Needs a string of good VFL form first. Acres looks to be quality and after seeing his run on the boundary and left foot give in the last he also looks quicker than we thought. Needs games now.

Acres was good and we were swimming against the tide in the 2nd half. Give him a go when we are actually winning and he will tear it up.saintspremiers wrote:Eli will be dropped.

Great signs. Think he has to realise he's not sill playing under 18's though. A bit more intensity and first option stuff would be good until he works the pace out. Don't think it will take him too long. Bright future. Hope he doesn't get home sick.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Was surprised by his pace. Looked genuinely quick at stages. Promising game.

Loved that passage of play in the last quarter when he took on two near the boundary and just motored through them. So cool headed for a kid.

Re: Acres should never play vfl again
Thats just how he plays. Hes never going to look 'intense' like Weller or Nate Wright.8856brother wrote:Great signs. Think he has to realise he's not sill playing under 18's though. He is going to look cool like Pendlebury. It doesn't mean hes not trying his hardest. It's just how he is.

Re: Acres should never play vfl again
There is some great potential in Blake for the future. Hopefully, with his silky skills, he will be a major long term contributor for us.
He has built up his body quite a lot since last year and does not easily get pushed off the ball now.

Shouldn't be the sub either. Needs as much game time as he can get. I get the feeling we're seeing the beginnings of some very long careers. Stay patient people. We're in the process of building a side and it's coming together nicely.

Re: Acres should never play vfl again
Agree with this...not to much the intensity, because as Con said, it's how he looks...but his 1st descision making in traffic at afl pace is still a bit suss, but I've no doubt will become elite in time. Should get a full game. Hard to compare to Eli who played defensive forward. Hope both become regular fixtures, but only based on performance!8856brother wrote:Great signs. Hope he doesn't play VFL again but if he is poor in the AFL I hope they drop him like any other player.

Re: Acres should never play vfl again
8 Acres (or 8cres ) looks to be a very good player and hopefully there will be no need to think about dropping him.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!
