What Lonie has been exposed to during games has been digraceful on several fronts.

I wouldn't put them in the same category as the cats, crows,Eagles and Essendon. Just fit, fast and talented.Con Gorozidis wrote:We play the Hawks on June 7resaintlee wrote:Two weeks in a row, teams with bigger bodies. Yeah with two talls out it sure is surprising that at least one tall was not brought into the 22 or at least made an emergency.saintsRrising wrote:With Delaney and Roo both out I am surprsised that Lee is not an in.
It either says it is going to bucket down with rain under a closed roof at Etihad or the match committee is not too impressed by any of our talls going round in the VFL.
Dempster and Fisher are simply to short.

Doesn't bode well for Lee, who by all accounts has done everything asked of him since moved to defence. As for Goddard, well he missed last week and they probably didn't want to throw him to the wolves.ace wrote:

I guess Kennedy would be a tough assignment first up for Lee in a new role also.

Fisher will obviously play on Kennedy. Dempster more suited for Lecras I reckon.
McGovern will be important to stop.

he would be getting closer these days. He's one of the few FFs that could still kick a ton in an era that it's not very likely. He is probably the best KPF in the league these days but being so far away we don't rate him as highly. I would have him in a heart beat, he's one of the few guys who could still kick 12 goals in a game IMO.

Maybe Lee's finally got his confidence and they don't want to destroy it first up.bigcarl wrote:Doesn't bode well for Lee, who by all accounts has done everything asked of him since moved to defence. When he finally gets back to the firsts it'll be interesting to see whether they put him forward or back.
Re: Team v Eagles
Still can't understand, if Delaney, Fisher & Dempster were all going to be included in the side initially why there isn't a like-for-like replacement now we've lost a tall defender.HitTheBoundary wrote:Maybe Lee's finally got his confidence and they don't want to destroy it first up.bigcarl wrote:Doesn't bode well for Lee, who by all accounts has done everything asked of him since moved to defence. Maybe there a plan which isn't patently obvious to the average punter.
My gut says Kennedy is going to kick a bag.

If you remember we had a real problem with lack of tall defenders in 2013 and we recruited Delaney and Bruce to remedy it.stjay wrote:Still can't understand, if Delaney, Fisher & Dempster were all going to be included in the side initially why there isn't a like-for-like replacement now we've lost a tall defender.HitTheBoundary wrote:Maybe Lee's finally got his confidence and they don't want to destroy it first up.bigcarl wrote:Doesn't bode well for Lee, who by all accounts has done everything asked of him since moved to defence. We took care of the future at last years draft with Goddard.
Now Bruce is needed forward and Delaney is injured so there is no other short term option.

Lee may be an option but I am not sure this is the best game to try him as a defender in the seniors.Con Gorozidis wrote:The short term solution is give Lee a chance.
He would be 2 cm shorter and 10 kg lighter tnan Josh Kennedy who is the most imposing forward in the league.

I think we'll see McInnes or Sinclair bag 4 matched up on Shenton or Websterstjay wrote:Still can't understand, if Delaney, Fisher & Dempster were all going to be included in the side initially why there isn't a like-for-like replacement now we've lost a tall defender.

Yes but Lee is 3cm taller and 4kg heavier than Dempster who has been named on him.longtimesaint wrote:Lee may be an option but I am not sure this is the best game to try him as a defender in the seniors.Con Gorozidis wrote:The short term solution is give Lee a chance.

Not sure Lee has the tank but with overlap run, I could see him having a couple of shots just outside 50m which may change the dynamic and make Kennedy more accountable.
My view is either Lee or Goddard could have got a run.
