Acres for Savage if he doesn't recover, otherwise no change and Blake is unlucky again

Re: Guess this weeks ins and outs
I would like to see the following:
In- Acres, Goddard
Out- Schneider, Roberton
Goddard has been doing his job every week for Sandy and it would be nice to give him a taste of senior footy, especially an interstate trip where the rest of the boys could get around him.
I know it wont happen as Roberton hasn't done much wrong but we need to reward Goddard for his great work for Sandy and give him a few opporutunitiies in the seniors throughout the year to learn off Fish and Dempster while they are still playing good footy!

Roberton did pretty well last week, especially in the first half when we were under the pump.boneless23 wrote:I would like to see the following:

Re: Guess this weeks ins and outs
No change if everyone who played is fit. Acres is next up and Gilbert once he gets a bit of match fitness. Then Goddard, the better of the two Goddards.

In: Acres
Out:Savage (ordinary against the Dons and ordinary in 1st half before being concussed. Dropped on form and reward for Blake, want it to be cut throat to hold your spot, Savage doesn't have that many runs on the board yet IMO)

The only way there is a change is if old mr general soreness visits.
Otherwise no change
Emergencies Acres, Membrey, Eli

Re: Guess this weeks ins and outs
Roberton has less chance of being dropped than Schneider I'd imagine.
Savage hasn't been right for a couple of weeks, no harm in giving him a rest for Acres.

What is this Schneider getting dropped stuff? Is it because they wanted him dropped previously and they just keep going no matter how good his form is. Its better to be wrong than show you have no knowledge of footy.

Not sure this is called for????plugger66 wrote:What is this Schneider getting dropped stuff? Is it because they wanted him dropped previously and they just keep going no matter how good his form is. Its better to be wrong than show you have no knowledge of footy.
Dropping Schneider to get a young bloke in the team is the exact train of thought that sees Dal Santo and Goddard playing in different jumpers right now, and guys like Clint Jones playing VFL.
Does Schneider offer value to our team right now?? Yes, of course. But that doesn't mean a suggestion for him to make way to get a promising youngster in the seniors displays a poor knowledge of the game.

Well I think it does because if he hasn't been dropped now he isn't going to be after last weeks game. This is about guessing this weeks ins and outs, not what you want to happen and even then it would be plain silly wanting Schneider dropped. Its impossible to say but I reckon if Schneider misses last week we could have easily just had a great loss instead of one of our best wins ever.

Re: Guess this weeks ins and outs
I reckon Gilbert is an automatic in when fully match fit and Ray is a probable. I want to see the kids in, too, but not at the expense of players who deserve a game on form and ability.matrix wrote:in fact i wouldnt play gilbert and ray again

Re: Guess this weeks ins and outs
He's s bit one sided but you can say that of a lot of players and it's particularly noticeable with left footers.matrix wrote:he does everything right bigcarl
except he always gets caught on his right
and it kills us
id have him in too if not for that one thing
He has a lot of pluses as well as runs on the board. A neutral observer of last week's Sandringham told me Gilbo looked a class above at that level and would be straight back in.
I'd be surprised as I think he probably needs another week to regain touch, but if we lose Saturday, particularly if we lose badly, he will be straight back in.

Re: Guess this weeks ins and outs
nearly everything he does is great
the run the chase the tackle the positioning
this bloke was close to or an aa type player
was an absolute gun
then all that shite happened
then he seemed to drop off
then he got injuries
he'll be back in the side when fit
that i have no doubt of

Re: Guess this weeks ins and outs
In a rebuild you have to play the quality kids often.
You can't just pick your best 22 every week as the young talent misses out on being exposed to the speed delta that exists between AFL and VFL and they dont develop i.e. every team Ross Lyon has ever coached!
The comments made about Schneider are not a slight against Adam. He is playing good footy and will be useful througout the year but it doesn't make sense to play him consistently over guys like Acres as we need to put the future first!
If Joey, Rooey, Fish, Dempster, Armo et al weren't around I would say that we needed Schneids in there for his experience but we have a solid core and we need to play the youth now so they can learn from the older blokes while they are still at the Club.
