Re: Booing Goddard
He did a similar thing against Freo while playing for us, and was in receipt of some flak over it from some sections of the media, but not a syllable of criticism on this forum, odd that?

Re: Booing Goddard
Whenever I head off to the footy, as I will be doing on Saturday, a most enjoyable part of the experience is the booze.
But I don't really care much about the boos.

Re: Booing Goddard
Booing a life member of the club seems a bit strange to me but people pay their hard earned to go the footy... they can do that if they want I suppose.

Re: Booing Goddard
I don't boo players who formally played for the Saints. I have booed maggots though, so can't claim the high ground. Anyway the ball and chain gives me a filthy look if I barrack at all and has been known to desert her seat if I get too carried away supporting my team.

Plugger did the same thing in that game against the Swans when we came from 47 points down. I was only sorry he missed. All that white hair to aim at too.SaintPav wrote:On the radio they were saying that BJ intentionally drilled a goal head height.
Not particularly my thing but it's part of the game and it probably helps fire these guys up more than anything.

Seriously? What are you saying at the footy to offend her so much?saynta wrote: Anyway the ball and chain gives me a filthy look if I barrack at all and has been known to desert her seat if I get too carried away supporting my team.

"That was holding the ball you white maggot", was enough a few years ago.

Re: Booing Goddard
The booing of Goddard is a bit like Everton fans booing Wayne Rooney after he went to Man U, Jiggster.thejiggingsaint wrote:It's an interesting point that some folk have made about booing Goddard, and equating such behavior with "showing emotion, and making some noise in unison, to show harmony among us" Well call me an old fuddy duddy, but I don't agree. "Passion" should be directed at getting behind OUR side. Where I sit on level one aisle 18-19, I often get folk coming up to me saying "come on Joggster, rev 'em up"!! Quite often (with a few honourable exceptions) you can hear a pin drop after an onfield setback, as people sit in silence (or in whinge mode) IF you want to be a barracker for this club, then you should need NO ONE to rev you up! and my point is made because it sickens me to the stomach to witness a guy like I did at the game last sunday, who booed with fanatical zeal every time Goddard went near the ball, but who sat in stony silence when OUR KIDS NEEDED ENCOURAGEMENT!
Someone made an interesting comment saying it almost shows a lack of respect if you don't boo. But on the other side of the coin, I respect and can totally see the point of those who see it as being negative or showing a lack of class. Those who do it and don't cheer on our boys as well are merely hecklers. I guess they're not really barrackers/suppporters at all. That sounds like a miserable way to spend the day at the footy to me.

Re: Booing Goddard
Or a bit like Southampton fans booing Mick Channon after he went to Man City or Southampton fans booing Martin Chivers after he went to Tottenham or Southampton fans booing Alan Shearer after he went to Blackburn....................... It really doesn't matter how many comparisons one can make Sainternist. (and for your information, I NEVER booed an ex Everton player when they returned to Goodison)
