Re: Changes v Puppies
Based on last week's performance and this week's inclusions I have a feeling we are in with a great chance to beat them.
The team looks quite good on paper.

Re: Changes v Puppies
i agree. He will get them. In other circumstances I'd have dropped the rookie-listed Schneider, but it would have looked like he was dropped for missing those shots at goal.SainterK wrote:

I suppose on form he is the first out. It was probably always out of Acres, Sinclair or Mckenzie so a young guy was always going to miss out.
Re: Changes v Puppies
I haven't seen a replay but at the ground there was one bit of play in the middle of the ground where Acres looked like he squibbed it with a weak one handed effort - he might be paying the price for that. He'll be back - he's my footy crush and I'll reckon he'll be truly creative play maker.SainterK wrote:Just the birth certificates are irrelevant, reward form, rebuild business...whiskers3614 wrote:which part exactly k?SainterK wrote:I think I'm on board the rebuild, cause that annoys me...

But otherwise I agree with you K. They've gone conservative again this week which is disappointing. With Roo and Joey back there is absolutely no need for Schneider. But no lets keep pumping games into him - in about three years he should be cherry ripe. We look too tall and too slow and bullies could carve us up. Disappointing they aren't rolling the dice with Eli or Saunders or Minch to see what they can do. Some fresh legs could have really helped too.

Re: Changes v Puppies
We don't actually have that many "ole fellas" in the team....so we are blooding a heap of youngsters at present. .Kids learn more if they can play in a reasonably competitive team. They also need rolemodels to emulate in the hear of battle.
FF 15 Jack Billings 1 Tom Hickey 37 Jack Lonie
HF 27 Josh Bruce 12 Nick Riewoldt 13 Adam Schneider
C 11 Leigh Montagna 20 David Armitage 16 Jack Newnes
HB 14 Jarryn Geary 25 Sam Fisher 17 Dylan Roberton
FB 24 Sean Dempster 21 Luke Delaney 29 Jimmy Webster
INTERCHANGE
5 Shane Savage
36 Daniel McKenzie
40 Jack Sinclair
44 Maverick Weller
Hickey came in last week to play as one of the 3 marking forwards and racked up 19 disposals. How often in recent years have we had a third forward do that??? Plus he got that while also gettings some HOs. In the last quarter I actually thought that he was about our best player.
So he deserved to displace Membrey on form.
I watched the replay again, and Schneider apart from his last 2 stuff ups had a pretty sensational game.
Acres certainly has a future but at 190cm and playing mainly asa flanker at present there were no obvious exclusions. Certainly the "old" Dempster played a blinder last week.
We do not yet have enough genuine mids, and Acres is not yet in Joey's class..

There is a need for Schneider. he is playing well and we can win this game. As for being to tall well keeping Acres and dropping Schneider doesn't help that either. Even for the pace thing isn't much helped having Acres in ahead of Schneider. I too think we are to tall and either Hickey or Longer had to go ahead of Membery. Its time for you to let the Schneider thing go. He is most likely gone in 2 weeks anyway.

Plugger, the whole we have a chance of winning thing I dont get. We played the most conservative team in gws and lost, same with carlton and collingwood which we thought we could win. We ended up getting pumped in 2 of those games. Now against essesndon we were writing how much the losing margin was going to be and nearly knocked them off. A few things that AR has said at the start of the season and through have been contradicting. Im with Sk on this one

Re: Changes v Puppies
Acres out is a really poor decision for mine - the kid did as much as could have been asked from the perspective of someone subbed on with a qtr to go. Deserves a full game. We've signed him for 5 years for Christs sake
Membrey I can understand
All this rhetoric re shnieder s***s me to tears - the guy is paid to kick goals and he didn't - should be dropped and mark my word he will be next week. Players get dropped for not playing 'their role' all the time just ask like ball. Surely Adams role as a small forward is to hit the scoreboard.
Weak decision for mine it should have been membrey and shnieder for Joey and roo

LTI for both Ross and Ray. 2 of Schneider, Sinclair and Saad have to go back. Obviously Saad does but it will be close out of Schneider and Sinclair. One can then come back on after round 11 if we don't get another LTI.

Re: Changes v Puppies
I think we are putting up a very competitive side. Joey and Riewoldt are our two best veterans and stuck by the club. Should get instant call ups unless their form is horrible. Acres is a long term project. We signed him up for 5 years. We are seeing a good player long term but right now he isn't demanding his spot. Webster is more experienced and plays the rebound back role well when going. Mc Kenzie did really well for a first game and is ahead of Acres right now. We probably don't play both at this stage. Guys like Eli, Lee and saunders have been doing well in the VFL and aren't getting a call up either. It's a tough game.

Re: Changes v Puppies
I can't see how Membrey could be in the team with Roo, Bruce and then Hickey dropping into the forward line. Sorry to see Acres dropped as I reckon he is going to be an important player for us- probably would have him over Webster, but you can't fit everyone in the team. I hope we come out fighting this week, as I reckon the pressure is on for senior positions, with a few in the wings waiting.

They are a very young and very talented team but they are still immature so it will be a real test for them to psychologically to play a team who they are expected to defeat after such a massive win. You only have to be off a touch to lose.
It reminds me of when we played them in mid 2004 at the G when we had won ten in a row and played them after losing to Sydney. We were very flat and it was the week were we took a session off to go to the movies. Thomo also started Lenny on the bench and it caused a bit whoo ha in the media that week.
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.

Im pretty sure last week people complained there wasn't enough changes after our loss against the Blues. Im unsure how the side could be any different apart from dropping Schneider who doesn't deserve to be dropped. And I think AR doing exactly what he said at the start of the season. he said form matters and not birth certificates.
