As far as I'm concerned Goddard no longer merits my time, however he did give us good service and as I'm not au fait with all the details of his leaving the club, feel less than enthusiastic about putting energy that should be directed toward SUPPORTING OUR BOYS into booing an ex player. Actually, it's become pretty clear that free speech that includes uncensored abuse and putting down of other posters drives people away from the forum. There will always be people who want to abuse others but it's not welcome here. The mods are trying to eliminate the personal abuse and derogatory put downs. Free speech certainly includes the right to have any opinion at all about the footy. So by all means vehemently disagree with someone's opinion, but leave the personal abuse out of it.

Yes, Goddard was a great player for us for a number of years BUT he left for $$$$$$. He was blinded by money and the prospect of winning a premiership and abandoned his teammates (when he would've been our next Captain). I doubt any St Kilda supporter will boo Dal Santo when we play North because, unlike Goddard, he didn't want to leave. Goddard did. That's why we boo. We don't forget what he did for us (hell, that's why it hurts so much), we are pissed that he left for money and showed absolutely no loyalty to the club that delivered him to three Grand Finals.

In my opinion, his "they'll make a movie about Essendon when we win the Premiership" comment alone deserves career-long booing.
