The Boys showed us a massive positive and looks as though we are not as far off as many first thought.

Armo, Steven, Bruce, Longer , Billings , Dempster , Lonie , Newnes......not a bad core.

Think the Longer/Hickey experiment worked today.

Lonie, Sinclaie, Billings, and DMac were all good.

Webster is class down back.

Workrate was what is required at AFL level.

Josh Bruce killed an AA backman and another big bag.

No Roo so not Roo concsious.

Couldn't believe it when I saw it....we have some poor supporters.

Unfortunately its the consistency at this stage - we are playing one great game in every 3 - obviously with more experience our consistency will improve but great signs from such a young group

I've been saying for three weeks to mates we are quietly way ahead of where the football world has us. We have an awesome support act building,we just need to snare 3 guns in the next two drafts/trades,which is highly probable. They havent even seen Goddard yet...what a collosus

Lots of improvement and talent. Need to find a few more elite ball users and we have a team.

Gotta say, Delaney was very good aside for one offensive play where he froze with the ball. But it looks like he was told afterward to play the attacking option and he did it after that.

Acres was a tad fumbly but has got real size now and great hands and nous. Needs a full game. I'm predicting he will play in the seniors for the rest of the year.

Longer was great and we didn't seem top heavy. Was interesting that Hickey did not have a single centre bounce. Surely we aren't trying to turn him into a permanent forward so it can only be part of his development into a ruck/fwd.

Bruce. We have not had a deep forward of this standard since G-train.

Billings, Lonie exceptional.

Dunstan, Sinclair good.

Senior players Armo Jack Dempster Fisher all stood up (in that order).

Positives:

All round team effort and pressure - A grade
Jack Billings - great game. So damaging.
The Bruuce has arrived. His first few games were no fluke. Hes the real deal.
Newnes - much improved. Back to what we know he can do.
Armo - Warrior.
Webster - didnt do enough but good first hit out. Quite a long way ahead of Wright (kicking).
Membrey - Love his effort
Lonie- Absolute live wire. 4th 5th efforts.
Geary - Much improved disposal. Good game.
DMac and Acres - Ok a few mistakes - but both did enough for me to be happy. Id rather see kids out there making errors but looking likely. Real promise.

Hickey really needed to take that grab 20m straight in front in the 3rd (?). That probably wins us that game.

I was really proud of the effort. Not many passengers and not a lot of drop off. I will have them lose every game for the year like that and still gladly turn up to games.

Bruce continues to just stand up to the hype and beat his defender every week. I thought Membery really got the skates on around the ground and worked hard.

Dempster was probably best on ground despite Bruce and Armo putting in performances that would compare favourable with any player in the comp and Jack Steven playing like a ferret on ice.

Loved Mc Kenzies effort and Lonie looked like he will be an outstanding prospect. Dunstan, Billings, Newnes, Sinclair, Roberton all really solid when the pressure came on.

Those four points in a row in first quarter came back and bit us, as did the late misses.
But I'm quietly pleased with the endeavour all over the park, against a side that fancies
themselves top 6.
Some 'in the headlights' moments from the youngest blokes, but they'll be sorted out
with maturity and match-time.

Yes, good thread firie.

Love how Lonie just keeps on improving, he's a tough little fella, also Bruce, can nearly see the confidence coming out of him at the moment, has been fantastic. Even when he's not marking it, he's hitting packs hard and bringing the smalls into it.

I know we lost and I really don't want us to finish last and I hate Essendon, but I can't believe how much I enjoyed that game.

Play exciting, competitive footy and people will actually pay to come and watch.
