Kingston City Council have just passed a motion to invest $5 million on Moorabbin oval to entice the Saints back.
Now waiting on state government funding announcement.

Entice the Saints back for what? We already know the VFL side will be playing there.Kick-it-lace-out wrote:Kingston City Council have just passed a motion to invest $5 million on Moorabbin oval to entice the Saints back.

Do you mean they're trying to entice St Kilda back to play AFL games there?

No to make it our training base. If we were to play there they would probably have to give us 250 million.

It was Alabuster who blocked everthing I had some dealings with him. He was only interested in petty politics he was not interested in the wishes of his constituents.

Re: Saints closer to moving back to Moorabbin
Sounds like it's a goer. The state government are keen to get us there after missing out on the Junction Oval.
Are there any plans available yet or costings ? Or is it a matter of waiting to see how much we have to spend and building around that budget ?

No, we should stay on topic.saintspremiers wrote:Agree. Should we be calling Dan Andrews Mr Kirner perhaps?
I wonder how far advanced the club is with plans?
If we are building a new home base it would be good to get it right the first time, and not grow out of it in a few years.

Agreed. There is no point spending 12 million if it needs 20 million. We wont get anymore government grants after this one so it has to be right straight away.

Mayor at the time. As someone else pointed out though the real problem was Alabaster not Topsy.

What about federal govt grants? Any chance of that?plugger66 wrote:HitTheBoundary wrote:No, we should stay on topic.saintspremiers wrote:Agree. Should we be calling Dan Andrews Mr Kirner perhaps?

Didn't Dogscray get one for the Whitten Oval? I guess that's a disadvantaged poor region so a bit different to Moorabbin

I think the Dogs may have got some fed funding through their association with Vic Uni, pretty sure they share some facilities for the sports science courses the school has.

Wonder if we can swing someone with Monash. Get them to put something in the facility as well.

Re: Saints closer to moving back to Moorabbin
This is bullishit. We just spend millions on some other place and now we move.
Considering everyone knew we were going to move to Seaford well in advance, how come folks only expressed concern once we were there?
If the place isn't too flash, it surely does not take us building a major complex for us to realise this?
Poor all-around.

It is poor but you are wrong about concern. I and many others attended meetings at Moorabbin town hall before the club finally gave up.

How stupid will this make Archie Fraser look.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.
