Re: Saints v Blues Match Thread in Welly
Cant see the game but has the pressure stopped? Every time we seem to be in the contest we are giving away frees. Usually mean the oppos disposal is better. Need the pressure to stop this.
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

Sorry Richo but bad decision to sub McCartin off

Umpiring has been ordinary, but the reality is we have stopped to a walk and are being made to look ordinary by a very ordinary side.

Why because McCartin was killing so much?3rd generation saint wrote:Sorry Richo but bad decision to sub McCartin off
You are garbage - Enough said
Re: Saints v Blues Match Thread in Welly
Yeah means we have no real target fwd. Don't see what Saad will do when we are struggling to get it out of our back half.3rd generation saint wrote:Sorry Richo but bad decision to sub McCartin off

No because we only have one tall forward now, makes us very predictable and easier to defend against.

Yep we have stopped but carlton should not have been in the game. Kept in with frees. absolute disgrace8856brother wrote:Umpiring has been ordinary, but the reality is we have stopped to a walk and are being made to look ordinary by a very ordinary side.

i dunno, but that was just about the worst quarter of footy i've seen in a long time. really need to go back to basics last quarter - hard pressure rolling footy - cause we can't hit targets and are losing every marking contests - so get those rolling mauls happening - local crowd would at least enjoy it.

I think this is just what happens when you have a side with so little experience, can turn it on for a quarter or two, but can't maintain it...8856brother wrote:Umpiring has been ordinary, but the reality is we have stopped to a walk and are being made to look ordinary by a very ordinary side.

Re: Saints v Blues Match Thread in Welly
Clearly our intensity and skills have subsided but the umpires have had a massive influence on the run of play.

Re: Saints v Blues Match Thread in Welly
Frees at 3 qtr time 23 to 10.
The reason for showing this is to try to track our pressure mistakes. The count was 15 to 7 at half time. Carlton got free and frees were always going to occur from the Saints when one on one in defence.
Why was the free count so imbalanced before 1/2 time though? Don't understand given that Carlton were making mistakes and had generally poor efficiency. Any answers from those that the game?

Re: Saints v Blues Match Thread in Welly
How can we lead for 90% of the match and have 15 less free kicks?? Dunstan, Newnes, curran, fisher, Sinclair, Schneider need to get their hands on the footy.
Re: Saints v Blues Match Thread in Welly
Need to throw caution to wind - defenders run of their man to try and get some run happening. Savage well held. Wright not doing much.

Dreadful quarter by the Saints.
Errors became commonplace. Even the smart Lonie made a shocker.
