Agree. Leigh played too many games for us and is compromised. There are plenty of other games that he can umpire.I feel he always overcompensates when umpiring us. He probably shouldn't be given saints games.

He normally does a good job when he umpires us so im not sure that's true but last night he struggled. He wasn't strong with his whistle and looked lost out there. Maybe till he gets more experience he should have a rest from our games.

Re: Those effing Green Maggots
The umpires did very well and did what was required. They took the game away from us with blatant one sided umpiring which is what the AFL need. They may have stuffed up by not awarding Lonie a free when Varcoe took his knees out as that just made the blatant cheating obvious to all.

We were poor. Umpiring was extremely poor. It's pretty commonplace.
Was a very disappointing night all round.

Curly you love the cheating call. You must be a joy to be around at the local footy. I have a mate who wants the Swans to get 70 frees to nil, Ormond to get 70 frees to nil and South Caulfield CC to get every decision in their favour. Are you related but just follow different sides?

No I just expect a even performance. Players to be treated the same the whole game and no bias shown towards either team. Last night was a joke that wasn't funny. They clearly umpired the two sides differently .plugger66 wrote:CURLY wrote:The umpires did very well and did what was required. Ok you win. Im about to go umpire the club 18's at Ormond. If you want to see bad umpiring pop down there.

Re: Those effing Green Maggots
I thought Leigh Fisher was the best of the umpires. Umpire Nicholls was his usual pedantic self (not my favourite type) and Umpire Mollison was hopeless, falling for all the Collingwood tricks. Collingwood is well trained at "cheating". There is no fair way to put an opposition player out of the contest when the ball is more than 5 metres away, but they got away with it many times. However, our relative physical weakness compared to them was more of a factor. There were too many half contests in the second quarter and they saw it, and capitalised on it. We need a drugs regime and we need it now, a legal one of course - but aren't they all now?

Re: Those effing Green Maggots
Mollison is always a nightmare.
If the umpires were simply crap then surely it would go both ways?
But over the last few years we've been bent over that many times, you would have to say that there is some sort of bias involved.

realdeal, you're right - that was the psychological turning point for mine. No mark taken, but handed a goal anyway and suddenly we're back where we started.

Bad umpiring is acceptable, as long as it is consistently bad for both teamsplugger66 wrote:CURLY wrote:No I just expect a even performance. Terrible decision to allow a mark to Elliot. Started the rot
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Those effing Green Maggots
It was the Pendlebury and Cloke double standards which where most frustrating. All Pendles has to do to get a free once he has possession is duck his head and charge at the opposition and Cloke just needs to fall over while waving his arms around. They received 11 free kicks between them, and I think about 2-3 of them were legit.matrix wrote:cmon it wasnt that bad

Re: Those effing Green Maggots
OK umps were ordinary yes, but we were too.
However, incorrect decisions were the problem.
Elliott did not mark that ball.
Steven did not take the legs out in the last qtr
It is not holding the ball if you fumble it before being tackled (Steven)
Cloke had a dream run
They were the worst for me.

There was no way Bruce would kick six this week with Pies allowed to do what they want in a marking contest.

FFS I hate umpires that are not consistent. Let me guess kosi, no free kicks for those two incidents? Of course not.kosifantutti wrote:There was no way Bruce would kick six this week with Pies allowed to do what they want in a marking contest.

Re: Those effing Green Maggots
Gotta love Wright's cannonball side bump which deemed and resulted in a free and goal to them
If that was high then Pies player would not have got up and Wright would be sidelines for 4 weeks
Disgraceful

Funny the comparison with Cloke who just gets looked at and gets a free kick.
