Saints digital membership - connect stream to TV?
Hi all,
Considering getting the member add-on digital membership as don't have Foxtel:
http://www.saintsmembership.com.au/digital.php
1. Does anyone have this?
2. Is there any way to connect your phone/tablet to a TV screen?
Cheers!

I don't have a digital memb., but to answer your 2nd question if you purchase a Google 'Chromecast', you can watch things from a phone/tablet on your flat screen.
Just type 'chromecast' into Google and check it out (does cost money of course).
Cheers, Go Saints!!

Re: Saints digital membership - connect stream to TV?
Sorry to raise this question again, but...
I am outside Australia and just before the season started, I purchased a digital membership; what does this entitle me to and how do I get it?
So far, all I've got from St Kilda is a thank you letter (you're welcome) and a membership card.
I have no idea what Chromecast is, but I don't mind watching footy on my android phone, just need to know how.
Anyone?

Geez Louise! They are really putting the bite on us, aren't they? I thought we were already paying enough money for our real life memberships, without having to spend more on a virtual membership.

Re: Saints digital membership - connect stream to TV?
It's a bit much to pay for not going to any live games; but I'm happy to support the club and show appreciation for the last 2 years of really professional work, I can see where we're going and it looks good, so I wanted to say thanks.
I think I read somewhere that we get our package and card seperately and I only got my card yesterday, so maybe the rest is in the mail. But I'd quite like to watch that Suns game sometime, and if I can watch the broadcast of the Pies match on Friday morning, so much the better.

Re: Saints digital membership - connect stream to TV?
Have you got the international version Austinnn ?
http://saintsmembership.com.au/digital.php
It should be just a code that you get to put into the AFL-Live App on your device

Yeah, that's right, the international version. So far just the membership card, no "lanyard" whatever the hell that is, or bumper sticker which I won't use.dragit wrote:Have you got the international version Austinnn ? This code, do you think I'll get it with all that other junk? (Sorry, top quality merchandise)
thanks for helping Dragit

Re: Saints digital membership - connect stream to TV?
This is a lanyard, apparently:
Not our Saints of course, but now I understand. I do NOT want it. It will never be used. I have no need for it. Does anyone? I don't understand what's in the heads of the membership dept. Save your money and let us opt in or out of the merch. Or even better, be proactiive and give us the option of voting for what merch to produce during the previous year.
Would you like a lanyard or a mug? Mug please.
Car sticker or keyring? Key ring please.
Calendar or poster? Calender, I guess.
THIS crappy made in China trinket or this OTHER crappy made in China trinket? Erm, can I have another mug instead?
This is what I get:
In my opinion, the club needs to put a lot more effort into the membership process and reward.
Having said that, I should stress I'm happy enough to support the club and leave it at that, but mickey mouse operations and cheap thoughtless imported crap don't really inspire me with confidence.

Who chooses the member choice item? I certainly wasn't given a choice. I can't remember the last time the membership pack ever included anything I would actually use. Maybe the scarf a few years back, but I've got 2 or 3 now, I'm fine for scarves. This ties in with my recent whinge about the membership process, here. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=88339&p=1536776#p1536776
Receive a Saints Members pack, which includes a lanyard, bumper sticker, membership card and a 'Member Choice' item

Re: Saints digital membership - connect stream to TV?
You should have received an email from the AFL with a "voucher code". If not, then I suggest getting in touch with the club.
From there you need to download the AFL app.....and enter the details etc etc...via the internet from memory..
After that you can stream to a handheld device.
They lock it down so you cant chromecast live stuff. However, I managed to get replays working on the weekend, streaming from the PC to the TV via a chromecast which was a surprise.

Re: Saints digital membership - connect stream to TV?
So digital membership is counted as part of the overall membership tally?
Interesting.

I use the AFL app and "airplay" from an ipad to the appleTV. Works a treat!bigred wrote:not with the AFL app no....

Re: Saints digital membership - connect stream to TV?
Chrome cast is the same as air play on apple TV just transmits signals it to another receiver device. Someone told me you can get an iPad or iPhone plug to usb or a converter that does it to get it on the TV but that seems unlikely to me. If you have an iPad it works pretty good anyway. I assume he digital membership is like the Telstra app but the club gets money as the sub letter or something.

I've got Foxtel so I haven't tried it, but....
Most "smart" TV's have a web browser, you could try to log in through the AFL website like you were watching on a PC??

Re: Saints digital membership - connect stream to TV?
Yes, but it is not live from the AFL website, it only has replays. And last year these were free anyway. The only live game coverage through the AFL, and therefore the Saints website, is via a mobile phone or tablet. There are ways to put this onto a larger monitor (like a TV) but the quality of the picture will be terrible.St Chris wrote:I've got Foxtel so I haven't tried it, but....

Yes you can connect a tablet/iphone to a smart tv. Run a HDMI cable... cost $20-40 to a VGA adaptor $50... that hooks straight into your device. You can get a range of VGA adaptors at Dick Smith/ Move/ Apple stores. Picture quality is 6.5-7/10 if you have decent internet speed.

Yeah depending on you ipad model, something like this:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/White-Dock-C ... 1c5003b087
and an hdmi cable. All up should cost about 10 bucks. Unfortunately you get ripped of at Dickies and HN and the like. Online the way to go for this tech.

No is blocked. Otherwise who would bother subscribong to FoxSports package when you only really want the AFL.St Chris wrote:I've got Foxtel so I haven't tried it, but....

I have watched a game last year that way with a mate and it was a terrible picture once it got over tablet size. I would still just put family sharing on the iPads and have one each.
