Our attention turns to Friday Night .
Are we now an outside chance to defeat the Pies , have we shown enough in the last two games to be a legitimate threat against a struggling pies outfit , is the pressure all on them , if we play like we did against the Suns are we a chance , so many questions .....I can't wait for Friday this game may give us a true indication of where we are at .

Yes we are an outside chance, probably a bit more than that.

We are only in with a chance if the boys recover OK. Consecutive 6 day breaks is hard.
Depends on selections a lot also.

Re: Friday night
We're on the way up and they are on the way DOWN.
Don"t know whether it will be this time, but we will get them.
I'd imagine the boys are feeling pretty good about themselves right now after a good win, but they are in for a rude shock if they don't bring the same energy and intensity they showed on Saturday.
Pendlevury and Swan are great players and will tear us to shreds if we give them anu sort of an opening

Re: Friday night
I reckon we're half a chance at least. The pies are struggling, but they had a real crack against the Crows, but were quite simply out of their depth. Is that good or bad for us? I reckon good. The pies are giving everything they've got, and only just got over the Lions and weer smashed by the Crows until they took off the pedal in the last quarter making the score look respectable. At the very least we should be competitive.
On another note - let's hope that Saints supporters get along this Friday night. We have a poor record of attending at the G. Would be good for our young team to have some real support against the pies who are always well supported.

Re: Friday night
I'm really hoping we bring our A game and all the boys are filling switched on and ready to go at the first bounce! As previously mentioned, selection balance will be important in managing fatigue, but it's still early in the season so purgery guys should come up well. The mental side of it is huge...if I remember correctly, we got pumped by the crows after a couple of decent wins last year that took the wind right out of our young sides sails...hoping history doesn't repeat!!

Re: Friday night
I'm not sure about this Friday night as the hotter/humid weather up Qld way may take it out of us just as it did the pies the week before. I think we will lose comfortably however I reckon we would then be a real chance against the blues in NZ. We could easily be 2-2 after 4 rounds and Carlscum 0-4.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

This is the question.
How will they recover after two 6 day breaks?
Looked spent in the last qtr on Saturday.
I suppose the only advantage is that it is early in the season.
You are garbage - Enough said
Re: Friday night
Many football insiders deny the 6 day break myth. (eg: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-03-30/t ... eak-furphy)
Obviously I have none of my own expertise in the area, but I am reluctant to buy into the idea that it matters to professional sportsmen, especially because many other sports have less than 6 day breaks without complaint.

We did look totally spent and GC looked fresh but they had been lazy for the first half so they should have been full of running at the end of the game.Bunk_Moreland wrote:saintspremiers wrote:We are only in with a chance if the boys recover OK. Consecutive 6 day breaks is hard.

I trust the fitness staff to know what to do with the players on the track this week in readiness for Friday.

Was that the Rooey hamstring game?Beno88 wrote:Perfect time to break a five year winless run against the pies.
And the last time we beat them was a Friday night in Round 3.

That still ranks as the best Home & Away victory I have witnessed in my 30 odd years.Beno88 wrote:Perfect time to break a five year winless run against the pies.

Rooey did his hamstring, Lenny was concussed (but came back on later) and Chips had his nose busted going back with the flight. Every time one of our boys went down with an injury those filth supporters cheered as if they had just kicked a goal (especially when Rooey went down). Disgusting human beings and beating them that night was such sweet justice.
That was also Bally's first game against us for that mob.
Guts, heart, and strength through loyalty!!
GO SAINTS!!!!

It was a very satisfying game, but I reckon this one trumps it. (2009, round 14 vs the Cats)kp83 wrote:That still ranks as the best Home & Away victory I have witnessed in my 30 odd years.Beno88 wrote:Perfect time to break a five year winless run against the pies.

That's my number 2, but for the sheer guts our boys showed that night against the Pies, with the skipper down, I just can't go passed it.saint-stu wrote:It was a very satisfying game, but I reckon this one trumps it. But both great games for sure!
