Telstra Dome's roof should be...

If there's a question you would like to see in next week's poll just send a PM to me and I'll pick one each week.
This question carries on from the topics about the roof and in paticular last Saturday's match.
All options are assuming there is no rain.

should be closed at all times
saw the umpire struggling to see what was going on last weekend and trying to shield his eyes, let alone the players and the spectators having to do the same
if you`ve got a roof to stop this from happening then USE it
feel very strongly about this
afl asleep at the wheel again
but when Demetriou instructs the umpires to wear yellow tops and dark shorts to avoid clashes in a game where Hawthorn are playing with brown shorts then this sort of stupidity is to be expected

Closed especially on hot sunny days.
Most of the public seated in the lower deck around the wing position(where I was seated) had their faces roasted last Saturday and a lot moved out of their nice seats to stand upstairs under cover.
I hope some of the administators who decide on this issue got some feedback or had some friends and family seated around this area so that they know what it was like.
There are plenty of people who suffer from skin conditions who have a right to expect not to have to endure this.
- that's me left after last Saturday.

The fact is..even when the roof is open most of teh ground is shaded anyway, especially during winter when the sun is low. So apart from causing a shocking sunny square patch in the middle of the ground for the 1st half, theres no benefit in opening it.
My one proviso would be install some extraction equipment so that on a hot day like Saturday (and we are gonna get more of em in coming years , cos Summer finishes later every year), the roof can be shut just before game time but some fresh air can be brought in (NOT air conditioning!) to stop the sauna effect.
And yes, the ground is the wrong way round..plus..has anyone ever seen a couple of its other selling points?? eg
.....The light display on the walls outside the ground that was supposed to ebb and flow with the crowd noise and explode when a goal was kicked??
.....The seating that slides out to make a rectangular stadium. Actually this was used ONCE only, by Melb Storm and it cost them (the Storm) a horrendous amount of money for the stadium staff to configure it . Meanwhile weve had concerts, wrestling and Rugby, all of which would benefit from having the seating brought in..but no

I like the roof open on non-bucketing days
Having the sky visable overhead to me is much more preferable than something resembling the inside of the mia space-station. or worse a suoermarker car-park. I actually look forward to going to the dome and having decent conditions inside while still being able to see the sky. It's just being able to see green grass and either blue or grey skys. We cant turn on the hoses and make the surface more boggy and more akin to mcg in winter but we can still experience open air sport. The roof is good in wretched weather but that's where it ends. Keep it open as much as possible. Go Sainters

Actually, I was just testing my new avatar. I didn't realize that the thread would get bumped up to the top of the queue.#1GILL wrote:Gee you have dug this from a long way back....SteveStevens66 wrote:closed at all times. otherwise, what's the point?

Re: Telstra Dome's roof should be...
So finally 10 years after the debate started on SS, and it possibly started even before then elsewhere, the roof is shut on sunny days as was the case last Sunday.
All good things, like Good Friday footy, take time........and lot's of it!
