Roberton??
Was Roberton injured when he was substituted?
I thought he had played a serviceable game until he went off. Seemed to be back more to his 2103 form, where he had time to make decisions before disposing of the ball. The commentators were surprised when he was subbed....... at that stage he had 13 possession and I forget how many inside 50's they said he had a hand in.

Re: Roberton??
I think the bottom line was he was probably expendable to get the fresh legs on. Did a few nice things but never looks like he is going to dominate because he doesn't have the weaponary.

Re: Roberton??
I didn't think he did much but was surprised to see he got 96 supercoach points! - not the be all and end all I know but he must have done more than I saw - certainly a few worse then him.

Re: Roberton??
Poor choice imo, he was very good.
Saad or Eli needed to come off for mine.

Re: Roberton??
Agreed we were short another marking option up forward why not throw him forward and get Saad off. Richo never seems to have an ace up his sleeve with any of his moves...Armoooo wrote:Poor choice imo, he was very good.

Richo is ultra conservative. If something clearly isnt working he sticks to it anyway and just lives in hope.WinnersOnly wrote:Agreed we were short another marking option up forward why not throw him forward and get Saad off. Re: Roberton??
So what does that have to do with Roberton? Unless he's coaching them now.Vazelos wrote:Templeton and Saad were very poor.
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Re: Roberton??
Roberton was one of our best players. He was leading in possessions into the 3rd 1/4. He laid two incredible tackles. He was looking good -- far better than anything he offered last year.
I didn't understand why he was subbed either.

Re: Roberton??
Anyone notice the three goals he stupidly gave away?

He sometimes lacks peripheral vision I think.Bernard Shakey wrote:Anyone notice the three goals he stupidly gave away?
But all in all, hes far from our worst. Probably did a very similar job to what Ray offers in that position/role but is 6 years younger.
He had 5 tackles. (Weller had an incredible 11).

Re: Roberton??
I think it was probably to get some more midfield help into the team with Steven and Armo tiring. We started getting a lot more forward thrusts all of a sudden in that last quarter so it possibly worked.

Re: Roberton??
Fair enough but Saad and Eli were not impacting on anything. I think Richo was hoping Saad or Eli could step up and kick a miracle goal in the last.gringo wrote:I think it was probably to get some more midfield help into the team with Steven and Armo tiring. I think Saad was playing as a tag on Shaw but Eli lost some run late so you are probably right. Eli and Lonie really played along way from goal after the initial set up then doubled back.

I was hoping Saad would be subbed off. He was deplorable. What do they see in him?Armoooo wrote:Poor choice imo, he was very good.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.
Re: Roberton??
He was fantastic.
What's the go?
Has to have a niggle, was shocked when subbed over saad.

Re: Roberton??
After watching the replay it was a poor decision that he was subbed! Who makes those decisions? Kingsley said it was because he was playing on the wing, so he was a straight swap for Sinclair. Kinglsey also said Saad was doing a job on Shaw WTF. Shaw marked everything that went near them. Richo is either getting some poor advice during games or he doesnt have a feel for game day coaching himself.

Re: Roberton??
If he wasn't injured, then it was a surprising substitution. The commentator said as much too. Saad should have been the obvious choice. Cost us at least one goal in my opinion.loris wrote:Was Roberton injured when he was substituted?

Re: Roberton??
Looks like he was asked about in the press conference. Answer suggested that although he was going ok on some measures, he clearly wasn't doing something that he had been told to do.
