Re: How many wins this year?
can't think of any teams that we could win against this year unless they are flukes like against freo last year.. thought we would beat Melbourne this year but they're obviously a completely different team after that win against gold coast

Lions will give the spoon a nudge but look slightly better than us. Not much though.

Here's good luck to Fredrick ventures.

Watching melb, lions, dogs and pies we will be lucky to win 1. Thinking we should definitely ask for a compo pick. 10-11 wins in three years is horrendous and if we do only win 1 this year, we would otherwise have qualified in the old system for two picks with 5 wins in the last two years......

I wish but times have changed. No priority pick now. No GWS and GC back then. To hard to say we wont get a Hamill or G but it will be very hard and worst of all, our best player will retire in 2 years. I think between 1 and 3 wins this year and maybe 4 to 6 next year at best. Need to win today if we are going to get to 3 wins this year.

Re: How many wins this year?
I must have watched different games yesterday.
Gold Coast were terrible.
Eagles were terrible.
Collingwood look beatable.
Essendon are on the wrong drugs.

They were but the first 2 have a home ground advantage. Pies are clearly better than us and so are Essendon. All of them will win at least 7 games. I cant possible see us doing that. Today is huge though. We must beat GWS if we are going to have a season like 6 or so wins. I still think even a win today will still only give us about 3 for the year. A loss may make the year tougher than even most think.
Re: How many wins this year?
If we lose today I can see a winless season coming our way. However, if we have a good win today and get through without any injuries we may even beat GC next week.

Lost Lenny, Jimmy and CJ and got no one of note. Cant see how we are better.

Very happy to lose like we did today. A fighting effort and good contest. No 4 points but invaluable experience for the kids.
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.
Re: How many wins this year?
Now that we have lost to GWS I am really struggling to see who we will beat. Hopefully Carltank on ANZAC day.

No, we won't. No chance.Milne wrote:In 2000 we finished 16th with 2 wins and 1 draw

In 2016 we will finish with 11 wins.
In 2015 we will win 2 games.
In 2016 we will win 4-5 games - depending on our injury list.
In 2017 we might win 9 or 10 games. Might - depends on our capability to cover the loss of our retirees.
In 2018-19 11 wins may be a possibility, notwithstanding some exciting ones. Our forward line is a massive liability and the big guys take longer to develop (pardon the pun), so this will extend our time in the bottom 4 by at least a couple of seasons.
Those five years under Lyon, plus the WA Forwards Inc. recruiting under the Watters regime has made sure that our rebuilding is going to take years. No finals action until 2020. Hopefully we can do it in style - back in the top 4.
Your friendly neighbourhood samurai.

Re: How many wins this year?
If our best 22 are fit and available, and remain injury free (and assuming the selectors choose the best 22) - then I can see us winning 8 games this year.
Savage showed what run and carry and a bit of pace and skill can do - we just need a couple more runners/ skillful playmakers and we'd be a different team altogether.
Lonie is all class, and has the rare ability to create time and space, Sinclair has beautiful kicking skills .. and we still have Webster and Billings and Acres to come back in.
White may also slot in as a mobile tall - we were clearly playing one too many smalls against GWS.
Then there's Gilbert and Hickey. McKenzie is a beautiful kick and has pace.
Plenty of upside.

Can you give us the 8 sides we will beat? I think you maybe very disappointed if you think we will win 8 games. I hope you are right though.

Re: How many wins this year?
I didn't say we will beat 8 sides!
We need to get our best 22 fit and available soon though, as the season and the chances might get away from us - to get our 8 wins, I mean - we missed out on a very winnable game on Sunday.

No good point about the 8 sides. Yep it was a winnable game against a side that finished near the bottom last year who have never beaten us at our home ground.

Re: How many wins this year?
Interesting to revisit this thread in the wake of a great victory against the Doggies! For what its worth, I think we can get six wins this year and improve on last season.
St Kilda forever ( God help me)
Re: How many wins this year?
Well I and a few others have no idea. Hopefully even less idea by the end of the year.
