Sandy v Port practice match
Game just started. Curren and lee not playing. First goal to hickey after brilliant chase and tackle from spencer followed by a nice pass to hickey. Billings started on ball Mckenzie and acres on wings. Very tall forward line with mccartin, white Holmes and pierce

Re: Sandy v Port practice match
Port 4:0 sandy 3:2. Hickey 2, Holmes 1. Hickey best by a long way, acres, Saunders, Mackenzie, white all been very good. Goddard and lee combo looks very promising in back half

Re: Sandy v Port practice match
Port kicked away in 2nd qtr 9.1 to 4.4. Saunders, billings, acres our best. White is the only forward looking like getting a kick. Mccartin struggling to have any impact. goddard looks good across half back. Mackenzie doing ok.
We are way too tall in forward half. Once the ball hits the ground its gone

At the game today. Really impressed with McKenzie so far. Goes really hard and very clean. Acres has been good and Billings had a good second quarter. Tom Lee playing in defense but hasn't been great.

Lee should be a solid VFL player this year and cement his spot as a KPP for Sandy.Rick88 wrote:At the game today. Really impressed with McKenzie so far. Goes really hard and very clean. Acres has been good and Billings had a good second quarter. Tom Lee playing in defense but hasn't been great.
Hickey not playing in the ones is pure madness.

8 goals down now. Bit of a worry considering how many saints are playing.

Lee has been no good today. More likely to cement himself as a KPP for Sandy Development Squad.

Re: Sandy v Port practice match
Ok just got back, last qtr was a lot better still got beat by about 10 goals.
So the good: we won't be seeing billings and acres play for sandy for a while. Both were a class above anyone else on the park. They both rotated through the midfield/wing. Billings won a ton of clearances and was so clean with his disposal. Acres ran his arse off and was brilliant. Kicked two goals on the run from Just on 50 in the last qtr.
White was really good, worked hard chased tackled crashed packs, should have kicked a few but chose to lay off passes instead.
Saunders was excellent, super quick courageous and importantly didn't waste the ball
Hickey rucked well and kicked 3 goals when resting forward.
Goddard doesn't get beaten a lot in one on one contests, very cool under pressure he's very vocal and was actually instructing Lee how to better guard his opponent when the ball is coming into defense
Mckenzie will be a player, he is a madman defensively, he tackles, chases, harasses over and over. He is quick and provides run and carry.
The bad
Lee was slaughtered after 1/4 time, his opponent out marked him like he wasn't there. Once his confidence left him his disposal turned to crap and he gave up 3 of 4 goals through turnovers
McCartin has a ways to go, hardly got near it in the first half. He doesn't have a big leap so pack marking is not his strong suit. He also didn't work hard enough when the ball hit the ground. He is a lead up forward which is not going to help in a poor side.
Pierce and Holmes had no influence

Thanks MadDog for your report - appreciated it.
When we are on the bottom Sandy Reports take on much more significance.
Great news regarding Acres, Billings, Hickey and White. Acres is going to be a gun.
Paddy has dropped his bundle in the last few games.
Was AR there?

Lee sounds like he's continuing his woeful 2014 form.
He may need to see a good shrink to turn it around.

Fair to say that if you are 24 and battling in the VFL your AFL dream is over.saintspremiers wrote:Lee sounds like he's continuing his woeful 2014 form.

Re: Sandy v Port practice match
really good news re Billings & Acers! Goddard & Dmack sound like they will be players...
Hopefully our no.1 pick turns it around. Looking at Brayshaw today I was hoping Paddy can impact like him too.
Does sound like AR did the right thing by holding him back. Needs to earn his selection.

I really like the look of that.
Re: Sandy v Port practice match
Turn it around?? Why the hell are people bashing Paddy when he's had one bad game today (from how it's being reported which may not be reliable anyway). He was one of our best players against the Hawks - kicked a goal after wrapping up the slippery Hodge, set up Wellers goal and helped turn the tide so it was kept at about 100 pts . HE's a young player - of course he's going to be up and down until he develops a consistent senior tank and attitude. I don't understand this "turn it around" bulls***. Richo has already singled him out for credit a couple of times.SaintWodonga wrote:really good news re Billings & Acers! Goddard & Dmack sound like they will be players...
