*still* looking for 'The Walrus' or *Don Lyell or Lyall*
I know this is on the wrong forum but I'm trying to find a guy connected with the club about 20 years ago. I stumbled across him at training one day at Moorabbin - maybe 12 years ago and it turned out he was called Walrus or The Walrus on this forum. He had a huge moustache
I've searched for that name but it doesn't come up - it may have been an earlier version of SS.
If you are reading this under another name - please message me - totally legitimate or if someone knows of him please message me his name - thanks in advance
****spoke to a few people last night - they remember him around the club at training etc 15 - 20 years ago - known as WALRUS - nobody remembers his name but it could have possibly been 'Don' ****
OK - I'm still after this guy - his name may be Don Lyell - seems there was also a Don McCarty / McClarty / McLarty involved somehow... reason is I believe he had something to do with helping set up the TWIN CITIES SAINTS (now Albury Wodonga Saints) in 1996.
We have our 20 year anniversary in 2016 and I've been contacting all sorts of people from that era (no internet or very good record keeping back then) I was only involved from the 2nd official meeting - so................. if you know something about Don or have any memories from the 90's please comment here and I'll contact you for more info

Yeah, I know that Walrus guy. Lived next door to that fool on the hill. He was a day tripper, and turned up eight days a week. I wouldn't let him drive my car because it couldn't carry that weight. If I needed someone to help, I'd rather ask Polythene Pam. He wore old brown shoes and lived a long long long way from Blue Jay Way. It seems like yesterday or the night before that something made me think about him telling me I'm a loser, but now i feel fine, because, in my life, although I'm going nowhere, man, tomorrow never knows how the long and winding road will end up, and , in the end, you just have to let it be.

Lol, George - aged only 26 in that pic - dressed as the gravedigger behind 'Paul' dressed for burial...Bunk_Moreland wrote:

Agree with you there matrix.............. hellyrocky is a great Saint supporter, met her when she's been over to Perth to follow the Saints. Also she is a cat lover (not the footy team), so that's another big plus for her.matrix wrote:would be nice if someone could help hellorocky

Re: looking for 'The Walrus' or similar
Hey I'll be tripping over that crossing later in July. I'm heading over for the Ashes Test match at Lords, and I have rented an apartment (through airbnb) that overlooks the crossing. Wonder if the ghosts of John & George will appear.................... maybe as I close the apartment door each day I'll hear 'she's leaving home..........'Bunk_Moreland wrote:

Re: *still* looking for 'The Walrus' or updated name *Don Ly
Hey hellorocky,
I got to know Don Lyall reasonably well in the mid-late 90's. Met him through a workmate at the lunches that were held each month at The Cooper's Inn.
Don got me a couple of GF tickets in '97. Talk about nerves, he didn't get hold of them until the Saturday morning.
Lived in Murrumbeena.
He was also a passionate Rangers FC supporter (my team too). If the Saints weren't playing well, we'd talk SPL instead.
I caught up with him occasionally at training sessions and/or practice matches. Always up for a chat he was.
Sadly I haven't seen or heard from him for many years now.
Merry Christmas.

Re: *still* looking for 'The Walrus' or updated name *Don Ly
wow thanks very much - I wasn't sure of the spelling of his name, I thought it may have been Lyall. Anyway, he wasn't a figment of my imagination, I'll keep hunting for him, hope he is still with us
