Re: Saints v Hawthorn
Good luck playing in our forward line this year. I feel sorry for Paddy and Tim. I've seen better kicks on angora goats. It's really, really, really hard to watch.

Re: Saints v Hawthorn
I saw enough last year, now seeing it again - Richo hasn't got a clue how to prepare a team, no real evidence of a defensive game.. Should have kept Watters and saved $500k

Agree. Gotta keep looking at the positives!Joe Bloggs wrote:Chin up ..what did we really expect, a close game ?.? Of course we will be blown away.

Re: Saints v Hawthorn
Look I am not enjoying watching this, but, they have just about their best side in, we have far from our best side.
Not that our best side would beat theirs and we have a really inexperienced forward line.
Roo will make a huge difference to some of these guys.

Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

Best sign of the night - paddy hitting the pack hard ball coming to ground parts great second effort causes the goal. Great sign in his first game. He's a real competitor. Temple ton working hard.lots of energy. Dunstan looks the goods. Monty trying to get things going but really struggling with forward targets

This scrutinizing of McCartin at half time is expected and it will happen all season.
Hope he can kick one in the second half in textbook fashion

NAB, A team v B team of best v worst. Don't take it to seriously.
so this is about where we are at. A fair reflection.
We arent going to flick some switch.

Team rules Con I am really having doubts re our coaching/development staff. The players confidence is paper thin no resistence, no smart effort and playing dumb football. The worst Saints side I have seen since the 80's.Con Gorozidis wrote:Why do we always get clear and then stop and handball backwards to someone in a worse position.

But they are the Harlem Globetrotters of the AFL. Just enjoy their skill and play. Luckily normal teams aren't a patch of the mighty Hawks.Con Gorozidis wrote:well yes except they did us in a similar way last time we played in the regular season.gringo wrote:WinnersOnly wrote:Embarrassing, is a VFL side playing a professional AFL outfit. We have half our best 22 out and finished motherless last in 2014, yet we should be a quality unit tonight.plugger66 wrote:WinnersOnly wrote:Team rules Con I am really having doubts re our coaching/development staff. Re: Saints v Hawthorn
Harsh - defenders in a bottom side always look under the pump and poor. Look at how the ball is coming in. We didn't recruit properly for five years, plus another two years where our recruiting of Western Australian underachievers was highly suspect on top of that. We were on top of the ladder and playing good footy until 2011, but now our recruting has come back to haunt us. We just need to accept this, because this year we will finish on the bottom of ladder, or bottom two at best. I said two wins this year, and that hasn't changed.
Here's a tip - in the bottom side, don't automatically pot the key defenders. Often it is the flankers at both ends of the ground who are the greatest liabilities.
