Board member going going gone
According to The Age, Ian McLeod is leaving Coles to join a giant US conglomerate so I'd don't imagine he'll be flying in for games if board meetings.
Anyone want to stand for the board?

Re: Board member going going gone
I've been told El Pres is trying to get a close associate of his on the board.
It's another business-suit-type. Might be time to think outside the square. Why we keep going back to these sorts of corporate old-school-ties, I'm really not sure.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.
Re: Board member going going gone
I don't care who is on the board as long as they can achieve the following in the next 12 months.....
1. Permanent relocation to the Junction Oval.
2. St Kilda playing 2 home games per year in NZ.
3. St Kilda playing 5 home games per year at Docklands.
4. St Kilda playing 4 home games per year at the MCG.
5. St Kilda VFL team playing home games at Moorabbin.
If he or she can achieve this then as far as I'm concerned they will be my hero.

You need to leave fantasyland. Most of what you want is impossible. Simple as that.
Re: Board member going going gone
The same thing is being discussed by Melbourne Victory, as he is there also. He 'apparently' was the real negotiator who got Ange P to the Victory.
USELESS FACT: The WADA case against Essendon (in Sydney as well) is exactly 10 years to the day that Australia qualified for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

I'd question the business acumen of Nathan Burke & Andrew Thompson over and above any associate of Peter Summers.evertonfc wrote:I've been told El Pres is trying to get a close associate of his on the board.

Re: Board member going going gone
My view on what is a "GOOD" Board is that it needs to have members from a diversity of backgrounds (football, business, legal etc), but even more important is that it needs to be a tight group that has everyone pulling in the same direction. I trust our Pres to offer the position to the RIGHT person !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Nope - they have to deliver a premiership for me to call them my hero.citywest wrote:I don't care who is on the board as long as they can achieve the following in the next 12 months.....

Will never happen. Tell hime he's dreamin'
2. St Kilda playing 2 home games per year in NZ.
Yep. Agreed. This would mean more bucks and be evidence of our commitment to that community.
3. St Kilda playing 5 home games per year at Docklands.
Nope, we will continue playing at least 9 matches a year there, probably more as so many other clubs have a tenancy there.
4. St Kilda playing 4 home games per year at the MCG.
No chance! We suck playing at the G - and always have in my lifetime (and I was born in 1968). Saints supporters have only ever turned up to the G in representative numbers for finals.
5. St Kilda VFL team playing home games at Moorabbin.
This will defintely happen, and sooner rather than later, although it is a bit of a backward step in my opinion.
If he or she can achieve this then as far as I'm concerned they will be my hero.

Re: Board member going going gone
The board doesn't deliver premierships. The coaching and the recruiting staff deliver premierships. However if the club is always broke and struggling to make ends meet then winning premierships is so much more difficult. That is why it is important for the board to achieve this......

Can you just refresh my memory again; how many premierships did we win when we played at the Junction Oval in 93 years again?
NZ - okay, full agreement there.
Docklands will be fine once the AFL have bought the stadium outright.
We have never been even remotely close to being an MCG tenant. We play worse there than we did at Launceston. One or maybe two a year is likely though and has happened before (usually against top teams though when we are going well ourselves).
Blind Freddy knows that we will have a VFL side playing out of Moorabbin, despite the move to Moorabbin being a backward step by 50 years. VFL side is a massive benefit to our player development though. Agree with you there.
I am too old to idolise people as being heroic for doing their job - to be my hero, the Prez needs to bring home the Flag. Nothing less will suffice now.

Re: Board member going going gone
So he's a Scot who really enjoys his soccer?
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.
