Just thought I would bring up a topic over the summer break about memorabilia. Some people love it and some don't. I would be in the don't category. I have one jumper signed by Plugger that I bought at an Auction that was said to have been worn by him in game. The problem is it wouldn't fit Stephen Milne. I also have a plague given to Lenny by the cheer squad for his 150th game. That is it. Don't have autographs or any other stuff at all from the saints even though I have followed them for 45 years. I do have scrap books that my Dad did over 60 years ago and some that I did probably 40 years ago. I was wondering how others feel about this sort of stuff and what sort of memorabilia have they got over the years.

One other topic is the wearing of footy jumpers to games. I think once you turn 21 that should stop. Because I have never owed one I never wore one though. Cap and scarves are fine at any age I think but again I don't wear any gear to any games. Well I do wear something but not Saints gear. Anyway would be interested on how others feel about this.

I have a pennant flag thingy with the 1966 premiership team listed on it. Not autographed. Says Saints premiers and lists the team. It is old from 1966 not a reprint thing.

Agree on Jumpers, but hey people can do what they want I suppose as long as they aren't hurting anyone.

I have lots of memorabilia - probably too much. Main things are an original WEG poster, grand final record and membership ticket (obviously all from 1966), footy cards from the early 1900's to current, membership tickets, reserved seating tickets, framed Members Recognition Guernsey from 2012 and a few framed Brownlow posters of Plugger and Harvey (all signed). Back in October I purchased three framed prints from the garage sale at Moorabbin. Each print was 2m x 1.5m and had a picture on the front and back. One was of Plugger (both sides), one was Winmar with Barks on the back and the other was of Lenny with the Doc on the back. At $320 for the lot I am not sure if I over paid or under paid but they do look impressive.

I don't wear footy jumpers to games but I don't have a problem with anyone doing that no matter what their age. If they are showing off team colours and supporting the club who cares what their age is.

I have a few 66 GF records, a 66 Weg poster and the number 6 locker from Moorabbin.
Also have a few different jumpers but don't wear them. I pretty much agree with others about adults wearing jumpers to the footy... but don't really care if people do.

The gave him the plague? Gee, you'd think he had been through enough with two knee recos and heart surgery. Miracle he survived.
On the memorabilia front the only thing I have is Don Bradman's autograph. It's only one I ever wanted. I got him to sign his book.
Shame about the jumper wearing. The little kid in me like putting the red, white and black on but I think you're right, it starts looking a bit odd at a certain point.

I have a 1966 framed photo with all the players signatures. Bought it many years ago(maybe 20) and it hangs in my study, sadly on its own.

I also have a Bradman signed piece and that's about it.

Agree with P.66 re adults wearing footy jumpers, seems strange to me also.

I have a team signed jumper early 2000's which my sister bought at a footy club auction for me. I wear it proudly to Saints games I attend up here.

I got the Team Of The Century painting - the Robert Harvey signed edition - for my 40th in 2002 and it still hangs nicely in the back room. Also got the book The Point Of It All in 1992 and it's in very good condition on my bookshelf.

Good drinking garage pieces but not great lounge room and kitchen pieces according to my girlfriend..

Somewhere between Switzerland, Denmark and Australia, I lost my copies of Heroes with Haloes and The Point of it All. Heroes with Haloes was signed by a lot of the players too.

Had a mate working on the stand refurbishment a few years ago,they were being thrown out ,so he took all the Carlton one's for himself, and Harves and Lenny for me

I once had back to back weg posters signed by Harvs, but they got stolen from my place

The other thing I had, and still have in storage was a signed (personalised) poster of Ball, Goddard, Hamill, Roo, Lenny and the G Train. I don't really like looking at it now since Ball and BJ left us.

Most recently I bought the banner which was up behind Lenny when he announced his retirement, it's a monster of a banner though - so tossing up whether or not to cut it down or not. Not sure yet.

If you ever want to get rid of them I wonder if the club would like to put them on display somewhere?

I'd be happy to give them to the club if they wanted them, but they're showing the effects a bit of several years in the MCG outer, with beer etc probably thrown over them on a weekly basis through winter

Not a big fan of memorabilia. I have a few personal things like old marching in magazines, 90s the Saint magazines and old membership cards. I had a mounted team photo a mate who was friends with Stewie Loewe got signed for me but I think my wife gave it to the op shop.

I collected quite a bit in the early 2000's & the sports memorabilia industry was at it's peak. The best 'investment' was a Plugger 1300 goal jumper (a Swans one) that I bought for $500 & sold for $1500 a few years later. I don't like displaying sports memorabilia around the house, other than in a man cave. So until the kids get the hell out of what is now a 'play room', they'll stay in storage (the jumpers, not the kids). I've got a few signed jumpers from Banger, a pair of Stewie Loewe's boots in a case & the record from the 66 GF that I inherited from dad. I also have a old Saints woollen jumper signed by Yabby, Doc & Breeny. That's secured away until I get it framed.

As for the wearing jumpers to games, I don't really see the issue with wearing the colours of the club that you love. I'm 41 & usually wear the 150 anniversary jumper (no number though) with a t-shirt underneath & jeans or chinos...not sure how it's different from wearing a club polo. When the winter comes it's under a hoody or jacket anyway. You're probably pushing it if you combine a footy jumper with footy shorts, socks & runners...I have seen a bloke who would be pushing 50 rocking that around Etihad in recent years too.

I have 10 player issue jumpers. Last lot I picked up at the saints garage sale they had, two other jumpers signed by the players, A member cap signed by the players and a bunch of AFL records from saints games from the last few years.

I've got a couple of pretty good things but a mate of mine managed to get the goal post padding from the match against Essendon when the lights went out in about the late 90's and all the fans ended up on the ground and lit a fire in the centre square..
He would've looked quite the site taking them home on the bus afterwards.. I wonder if he still has them.....

I only have 2 pieces. A framed jumper signed by the 2004 team and coach that my wife got me for my birthday. And a jumper signed by Roo and Barry Breen - hoping that in 2009 or 2010 Roo was going to kick a point that won us a flag.

I've got quite a few pieces, but like you my favourite two are the same 1966 signed frame (a superb piece), and a signed Bradman 100th 100 frame.
