Wow three injured players didn't inspire some fan

Wonder how inspiring this fan is when injured?

Wright - I like this kid but unfortunately with the way he throws himself around I think injuries are going to be constant issue.

Ross - Will have to take on more responsibility in the engine room.

Webster - Should be looking to take a role in the midfield rather than just as a running defender.

Billings. With more confidence and poise his talent will be obvious
White. I don't think he will have high possessions but could go near 40 goals
Murdoch. Just cos

I really like Wright too but hey, three is three

Murdoch, Billings & Spencer White...and I reckon there be a few more than those three.

I have a fair slice of hope invested in Spencer, Acres and Webster.

(For me Newnes is pretty much already there.)

Newnes looks to be having a major pre-season and is probably odds on to have a career defining season. Well known amongst Saints fans but still relatively anonymous to most casual AFL supporters, guessing this will change in 2015.

I am so pleased Rhys Stanley was traded. He'd be amongst everyone's three players in hopes of improving this year. Trading him was a great move by the club. Just imagine if we were still stuck with that albatross.

It was worth trading him just so we didn't have to read the obligatory annual posts in February about how he was was going to have a 'break out' year and 'tear it apart' etc etc. Somehow the annual obligatory pre-season posts on Kosi about to 'explode' just dove-tailed into similar annual pre-season posts on Rhys over the years.

A bit of a relief this year.

Con, it has been a wonderful off-season. (So far) no off-field shenanigans *touch wood*, no whipping boys being massacred and no false hopes for the 2015 season. Unfortunately this probably won't last when the team starts to come good.

Webster - Think this kid is going to be something special
Murdoch - Have been saying for a while that I think this kid will finally be the strong bodied half-forward type that we haven't had since Sammy Hamill
Hickey - I reckon this boy is an exceptional athlete and now he is no longer being held back by a knee problem I think he will surprise many......

Summary thus far:

9: Newnes, Ross, Webster
8:
7: Hickey
6: Acres, Billings
5: White
4: Murdoch, Templeton
3: Wright
2: Lee, Markworth, Savage
1: Armitage, Dunstan, Minchington, Roberton

Interesting that Dunstan only has one vote, considering he's got the most runs on the board of any of the kids. Interesting also that Saunders doesn't appear there once - sounds like we've given up on him. Also no votes for Longer, Curren, Bruce, Weller or Shenton, from guys who played a few games last year.

But a clear top three there. If Newnes, Ross and Webster all take a step up and become true AFL-quality mids then we'll be looking a bunch better by the end of the year.

Good observation and summary. I think people are focussing on the "big" part of the statement. I expect improvement from Dunstan and Saunders as well, but think Dunstan started at such a high level that improvement will be incremental, I would be amazed and overjoyed if he took a massive step up from last year, I am expecting a small step. I think Saunders will improve, but think he will be the type that shines when the engine room improves, rather than being the reason for the engine room improvement. He will be a cream on the cake player rather than the cake, IMO, adding outside run and finishing.

I am surprised everyone thinks Ross will be a big improver.

I am not a great fan of Ross, reminds me of Powell without the tank. Seems to go up and down in the one spot.

Having said that and with my recent sports predictions (Steve Smith is not an Australian Test quality batsman  ), it means Seb Ross will win the Brownlow and the B&F this year.

My big three improvers will be

Roberton - over his injuries and raring to go
Wright - tough hard at it HBF who should have hardened his body to match his footballing character
Wight - had a taste and will only get better

Agree on Ross, don't see anything in him to suggest he will make it as an AFL footballer. I guess if he does he will be the biggest improver,as he is a long way off an AFL standard midfielder
